(65,502 posts)Stochastic Terrorism: Triggering the shooters.
By G2geek

Stochastic terrorism is the use of mass communications to stir up random lone wolves to carry out violent or terrorist acts that are statistically predictable but individually unpredictable.
This is what occurs when Bin Laden releases a video that stirs random extremists halfway around the globe to commit a bombing or shooting.
This is also the term for what Beck, O'Reilly, Hannity, and others do. And this is what led directly and predictably to a number of cases of ideologically-motivated murder similar to the Tucson shootings.
SNIP
The person who actually plants the bomb or assassinates the public official is not the stochastic terrorist, they are the "missile" set in motion by the stochastic terrorist. The stochastic terrorist is the person who uses mass media as their means of setting those "missiles" in motion.

(4,463 posts)...politispeak. Mostly meaningless BS - often from both sides. But that absolutely floors me. His supporters are deranged enough to act on that statement - perhaps a very small contingent of them - but it only takes one. He has to know that.
And I don't see how he crawfishes away from this. What else could he have meant? That they could organize a militia in protest? That they could go 2nd Amendment on her SCOTUS picks, and not Hillary herself (...yeah, that's much better)? I don't see how he walks that back.
He just said that assassinating her was a viable option to prevent her from appointing progressive justices. Wow!

(58,785 posts)And boy are the talking heads on it. Ex- CIA and NSA head General Michael Hayden said if he was a regular person he'd be tossed in the back of a police van for this. Hayden may be getting old. As much as I like the image of all the Fox trollers being hauled off for booking and questioning by the Secret Service, we don't arrest people for that. At least I hope not.

(58,785 posts)has the power to replace a candidate, at least by his interpretation of "Rule 9," and that this kind of action is supported by a model in the Constitution in that a majority of the Cabinet can declare the president mentally or physically unfit and immediately the powers are transferred to the VP. The president can appeal to the House. (Another drama to look forward to some day!)
It's likely that Trump has never submitted himself to a certified professional to be formally diagnosed, so it would have to be overwhelming behavior problems that justified such an enormous action against the will of all those who voted for him--to significant numbers of those very people. Unfortunately, many are doubling down on their support.
Itm, this seems like just another straw on the camel's back of Trump's candidacy, which virtually certainly has already collapsed.

(20,747 posts)When statements are made on camera in front of thousands of people, anyone with half a brain knows to keep it clean and not go anywhere near anything that could be misconstrued as unethical, immoral or even threatening.
Conversely, we've all said to someone off the cuff, "My ____'s gonna kill me" but it wasn't public, official or on the record.
There is a much higher threshold that a public speaker is required to pass for any public position, be it health administrator, town trustee, or dog catcher.
So for a presidential nominee to suggest, among all the other hostile moves made at his events, that anyone should use second amendment threats, should disqualify him from running.
I hope the DNC calls for just that.

Speaking in Wilmington, Trump said, If she gets to pick her judges nothing you can do, folks.
Although, the Second Amendment people, maybe there is, I dunno.
But I tell you what, that will be a horrible day.
Trump went on to falsely claim thatHillary essentially wants to abolish the Second Amendment.
If you dont do whats the right thing, youre not going to have a Second Amendment. Youre not going to have much of it left. And youre not gonna be able to protect yourselves, which you need.

(3,740 posts)No matter how the matter is parsed, Trump's comments are clearly calling the single-issue 2nd amendment gun owners to bring their armed power threats into the fray.
He is saying that within the Trump tribe trying to stop Madame President, the only political power with enough clout is in the not yet cold dead hands of the armed segment of their big-pup-tent tribe.

We don't have to meet court-of-law prosecutorial standards before we can condemn and call-out behavior like that. We know EXACTLY what he meant! It was an inflammatory lie, followed by a call-to-action for his supporters.
IT WAS A THREAT!!
His denying what he meant by that is along the lines of someone denying that "see you next Tuesday" doesn't mean anything vulgar and misogynistic either.

(5,969 posts)But from that video, it is encouraging that it didn't result in definite agreement from the crowd. I interpret the older guy's reaction in the red shirt on Donald's left as a "What the hell did he just say?".

(17,199 posts)It is just now August 9th. Donald Trump didnt distance himself from Baldarsaro. Rather, he praised him. Two days ago, Think Progress reported, Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump has confirmed that his adviser who once called for Hillary Clintons execution is still part of the campaign Al has been so great, Trump said. Wheres Al? Wheres my vet?
Given the insane hate at Donald Trumps rallies, as captured by the The New York Times in a chilling video of Trump supporters complied from their time on the trail covering Trump, there is no reason to believe this will be taken as a joke. It didnt get any laughter.
Trump supporters shout things like, Kill her! and Trump that bitch! on such a regular basis that reporters felt it necessary to document it in compiled footage.
