Clinton campaign spokesman Nick Merrill responded to the wrongful death lawsuit in a statement Monday:
In any other election, this statement probably wouldnt be notable. But this year, it is, because its a marked contrast to the way Trump responded to the Gold Star family that criticized him.
nstead of issuing a restrained response, Trump went after the Khans. The GOP presidential nominee repeatedly tweeted about Khan, and in an interview with ABC News, Trump suggested that Khans wife, Ghazala Khan, didnt speak at the convention because her Muslim faith didnt allow her to.

(5,106 posts)Obviously the woman is still unhinged by grief and hasn't moved on in twelve years. Neither Sec. Clinton nor I have, thankfully thus far, been in her position . Nonetheless, many other parents have, and, necessarily for themselves and others close to them, moved on ; just maybe playing the "blame game" in their own minds, but striving to come to terms with their loss. I've known a few of them. I feel it was diabolical of the Republicans to find this woman and encourage her in a hatred which is only destroying her, with little hope for a normal life for her in future.: just hanging on to her grief and rage. It was a cringe-worthy spectacle--- and not for Hillary, who obviously has a normal sense of compassion, as do many of us. OTOH, Trump's reaction to the Khans was ugly and tone deaf. I understand Mr. Kahn is an attorney. I don't know his wife's background, but would bet she's very well educated. She certainly sounded so when interviewed later.
