A tale of two campaigns in Ohio

Everyone knows that Ohio is a crucial state in any presidential election. So, what is Trump doing there? Well, he has opened one office in Columbus and hired a couple of people. That's it. Hillary Clinton's campaign, on the other hand, has opened a dozen offices in Ohio and has a staff of 250 in that state.

Trump has some volunteers who have opened their own office, but they can't even get yard signs from the Trump campaign.

Learn the whole story, as of August 4, at the link below, and wrap your mind around the inadequacy of Trump's campaign:

http://www.cincinnati.com/story/news/politics/blogs/2016/08/04/donald-trump-opens-ohio-office-hires-staff/88225696/

COLUMBUS - Donald Trump’s campaign has opened an Ohio headquarters in Columbus, planned fundraisers in northeast Ohio and hired a couple of senior staffers as the GOP nominee scrambles to catch up with Democrat Hillary Clinton’s organization in the swing state less than 100 days to the general election.

Trump’s campaign has opened a main office on Bethel Road in northwest Columbus, several people briefed on the matter told The Enquirer. Joining veteran Ohio campaign manager Bob Paduchik, these people said, are two senior staffers:

Communications Director Seth Unger, who has worked for Ohio Treasurer Josh Mandel and for Republicans in California;

Coalitions Director Clayton Henson, who has worked for Ohio Secretary of State Jon Husted.

Robert Scott, a Dayton attorney who led Trump’s Ohio primary effort, continues as deputy state director. John Roscoe, a veteran of campaigns for 2012 GOP nominee Mitt Romney and Mandel, has joined the Ohio Republican Party to coordinate efforts between the party and the campaigns of Trump and U.S. Sen. Rob Portman.

The Trump campaign confirmed the hires in a press release late Thursday.

He's not even trying to win a crucial swing state.

1. trump has reached the "sit back and let others do the work" stage of his career

all he does is self-promote and fire people when he gets bad news.

i'd say he's an empty suit but that's an insult to perfectly nice suits.

he has no idea how to run a political campaign on the ground, they don't go into that level of detail on foxnews.

I think he has miscalculated this entire thing, and that it is going to backfire spectacularly very soon.

2. I still believe Trump never wanted to win the Presidency. This was just another business deal.

I believe he entered the race in order to get leverage to cut a sweet deal to get out of the way. And meanwhile, he would get hbillions of dollars of free media promoting the Trump brand.

It seems to me that he is at the stage of the campaign where he must be wondering where all the deals are. After thr 50 Republicans threw him under the bus yesterday, I'm thinking there won't be any deals. Just like Obama, the GOP figures they can run Hillary out of town in 4 years and then have the new golden era of the GOP. And in the meantime, they can continue to obstruct and get most of what they want anyway.

So I don't think Trump is going to get any life preservers.

recently in polling, despite gaffes, disorganization, conflicts, etc. It shows the power of the media, who give him free publicity constantly AND some legitimate concerns but mostly ignorance and bigotry among parts of the electorate.

Trouble is that the inflatable boat he's on is leaking air. It's going to sink soon, I think, leaving him without a boat. Worse, he left his personal flotation devices at the dock.

This whole Trump enterprise is going to sink the Republican brand before it's done, I think. That could be a very dangerous thing for the orange-haired gibbon that is Donald Trump. I don't think he understands the power of those he is disappointing very clearly.

Folks with enormous power are getting pissed.

Most republicans here are planning on voting for him but are mad as hell at him that he beat out all the "good" candidates and proceeded to run the shitiest campaign ever.

Where is the money? They raised $81 Million and kept $55 Million for the Trump campaign, they have scheduled $0 in TV ads, they have almost no ground game. What is going on?

Is it possible Trump is paying himself back those loans he said he forgave his campaign?

Is it possible that the RNC took this cash and is going to use it for Congressional Races?

Something is not right, they should be spending like crazy right now.
