Trump asks about Nukes - Many parallels to 1964 - Time to do a re-make of "Daisy Girl" Ad (link)

In 1964 the most powerful political attack ad of all time, "Daisy Girl", was produced. It ran only once due to public outcry, but the Goldwater campaign never recovered from the damage it inflicted. Here's some historical background for the '64 election, showing the many uncanny parallels to the 2016 election:

In 1964 Lyndon Johnson was running against the ultra-conservative, mentally unbalanced Republican Barry Goldwater.

Goldwater was one of many candidates in the Republican primary, but his rabid, relentless, energized followers won him the nomination. They won only after a long hard fight through primary season; and even then only as a result of a huge protracted fight that was s disruptive, rancorous insurgency at the Cow Palace, where the RNC was being held that year. Sound anything like Donald Trump?

Goldwater was widely considered crazy/mentally unbalanced/temperamentally unsuited to be commander-in-chief. Sound anything like Donald Trump?

Goldwater was by all measures an extreme candidate. He wanted to consider using tactical weapons in Vietnam and other areas of conflict. Sound anything like Donald Trump?

Because of the general perception that Goldwater was mentally unbalanced, over 1,000 of the nations psychiatrists and psychologists were polled to see whether they thought, in their professional opinion, Goldwater was mentally stable enough to be president. The resounding answer was "NO". Sound anything like Donald Trump?

After the election, Goldwater sued the magazine that published the results of the survey. This resulted in the American Psychological Association revising their ethical guidelines by adding a clause that prohibited diagnosing public figures who thay had not seen face-to-face.

However, recently many high profile mental health experts (including senor Harvard psychology department professor and bestselling author, Howard Gardner, among many, many others) have openly violated this prohibition because they feel it was too urgent to remain silent.

Trump's combination of mental instability and strong interest in using nuclear weapons parallels what the nation faced in the 1964 presidential election.

I think it's high time to do a re-make of the "Daisy Girl" ad:

Daisy Girl
