A Government Of All the Tossers: Richard Land's advice to Romney

Romney advisers try to lay groundwork for united GOP against Obama

Mitt Romney, mired in a frustrating slog toward the presidential nomination, has directed his top advisers to launch a multi-pronged effort to unite the Republican Party as the primaries draw to a close.
...
Among those being courted is Richard Land, a longtime leader of the Southern Baptist Convention. As a practice, Land said, he does not endorse political candidates, but he is considered a powerful barometer of the evangelical community.

Land said that after a private dinner with Romney last year at Acadiana, a Washington restaurant, Romney’s advisers have been in regular touch. Land said he recently told them that Romney could win over recalcitrant conservatives by picking Sen. Marco Rubio (Fla.) as his vice presidential running mate and previewing a few Cabinet selections: Santorum as attorney general, Gingrich as ambassador to the United Nations and John Bolton as secretary of state.

“They’re taking notes,” Land said. “I don’t know what they do with the notes, but they give a good impression of listening.”

The only good to come of that would be to watch the over-inflated egos of Gingrich and Bolton compete to see which could cause the other's head to explode first as they both try to run everything. If they didn't start a nuclear war first, that is.

2. Richard Land is located in Nashville Tn. He is not liked by people who actually think.

To simply call him a leader of the Southern Baptist Convention is too kind and a misnomer. He is a fascist theocrat of the highest order. He is constantly pontificating his bigotry on local radio and television.

4. He is a leader of it; that doesn't preclude him being a fascist theocrat

It is, after all, a bigoted and deeply hateful organisation.

Dr. Richard Land has served as president of the Southern Baptist Convention’s Ethics & Religious Liberty Commission since 1988. During his tenure as representative for the largest Protestant denomination in the country, Dr. Land has represented Southern Baptist and other Evangelicals’ concerns in the halls of Congress, before U.S. Presidents, and in the media.

Baptists.
I am aware of his rubbing elbows with the powers that be and I am also aware of his responsibility in the degradation, via his influence, of our rights as Americans to freely associate with whatever religion or ideology we please. He is a dangerous man and should not be speaking for anyone but himself just as we all have a right to speak for ourselves as individuals. He is not the head of all people and definitely not a spokesperson for morality. He is well known here in Tennessee. He puts on a pretense of humility that can be found in sociopathic personalities. He is just as arrogant an egotistical as Tony Perkins. He does not 'define' Christianity and is not the definition of any Christian that I know or have ever known. Unless Christianity is defined as being well groomed and wearing nice suits.

3. LOL! If Romney previewed such a cabinet before the election, it would sink him...

Bolton is a nice touch as well.

If that is *half* as successful as the primaries have been - well, what could possibly go wrong?
