Democrat Hillary Clinton has built a slim lead over Donald Trump in Georgia after one of the worst weeks of the Republicans campaign, according to a new Atlanta Journal-Constitution poll.
The poll released Friday shows Clinton at 44 percent and Trump at 40 percent, within the polls margin of error. It is the latest showing a close race between the two candidates in Georgia, a state that has voted for the GOP nominee since 1996.

(3,765 posts)Last poll was June 10-20. Lots has happened since then. The Republican Convention. Ted Cruz. The Democratic Convention. Mr. Trump vs. Mr Khan.

(45,528 posts)there were several solid red states that became purple or blue in recent times. America is changing. People move. People are more diverse than before, especially in younger generations.
And more of the types of people who would vote for Democrats are becoming US citizens, turning 18, and registering to vote all the time. It's unstoppable. Trump's supporters can't handle diversity.
We need Trump and the GOP to lose so badly this year that they must cease to operate in the shameful hateful way they have been. Their party needs to completely rethink their platform, policies, and messaging if they even hope to survive in the more diverse and liberal America.

(26,648 posts)and, except for Denver, Boulder and Pueblo, it was pretty red. Even passed the horrendous, and unconstitutional Amendment 2 in the bad old 80's when friends were dying. We've come a long way, but we still have a few of the craziest Congress critters.. most are just crazy, but some are slick and dangerous. Look for Cory Gardner to be pushed as the "new GOP" voice of reason. He's not, of course, but he's pretty and says all the "right" things.

(11,522 posts)We have voter ID laws, no same-day voter registration (last day to register is Oct. 11), early voting has been cut back, and more than likely there will mysteriously be a shortage of voting machines in traditionally blue districts. Still, it's telling that Hillary is essentially even with tRump right now, hatred of the name Clinton runs deep here. I'm keeping my fingers crossed.
