Trump camp: We expected drop in polls

Donald Trump's slump in the polls is not a major cause for concern, the Republican nominee's campaign chairman Paul Manafort suggested Thursday. The "drop in poll numbers" was "expected" after the Democratic National Convention, Manafort told "CBS This Morning."

As an on-screen graphic showed a Fox News national poll with Hillary Clinton ahead of Trump by 10 points, co-host Gayle King pressed on whether "this big of a drop" was anticipated. "It depends on which poll you look at. We feel like in another week or so, the polls are going to even out," Manafort said. "We always thought we had a bounce and knew the Democrats would have a bounce. And now you see a situation in what looks like an uneven field but in two weeks we think that’s gonna even out if we are out there on our message, which we will be.

"The framework of this election favors Donald Trump. If we run the campaign that we plan on running, we think we’re going to win. We don't plan on winning in August," Manafort continued. "We plan on winning in November. And that will become evident as the campaign deploys. There is a lot going on at the local levels that you’re not seeing."

The campaign is "feeling comfortable," Manafort explained, going on to say that as an organization it is "not comfortable" with "the narrative that the media seems to be taking which is -- which is building a storyline that -- that the Democrats are controlling the race."

expect the drop to continue at an increased rate as more and more voters become "educated" about who and what Trump really is.

If Manafort is smart, he will be vigilant about getting paid in advance by Trump.

Except that time it might have actually been true and it didn't help anyway.

So they aren't ready to quit today, I guess.

Or is their brilliant plan for Trump to shut up for a week and watch his polls skyrocket?

Seeing a surge in Johnson support from my friends in the South. I think Trump might lose Georgia too.
