Rudy Giuliani on Thursday accused Donald Trump's critics of trying to take down the GOP nominee by stoking anxiety about nuclear weapons just like they did to 1964 Republican nominee Barry Goldwater.
"This is the Goldwater this is the same Goldwater garbage they tried with the nuclear cloud and all that stuff," the former New York mayor said, referring to President Lyndon B. Johnson's campaign " target="_blank">"Daisy" ads warning of a nuclear apocalypse with the Arizona Republican as president.
On Wednesday, MSNBC's Joe Scarborough cited an unnamed foreign policy expert who recounted a meeting with Trump "several months ago," saying Trump asked the adviser on three separate occasions why he could not use nuclear weapons as commander in chief. "Three times he asked, at one point, 'If we have them, why can't we use them?'"
Scarborough said during a roundtable discussion with former CIA Director Michael Hayden.
Scarborough's comments were widely reported and fed criticism of Trump's temperament, but they also drew rebukes from Trump supporters.

(35,699 posts)I agree that Joe Scarborough should contact the so-called expert and ask him to speak out though. This third hand shit is not so convincing.
