What Intervention? Trump's Inner Circle Turns On Itself To Disavow Reports

Former New York mayor Rudy Giuliani blamed former House Speaker Newt Gingrich (R-GA) for media reports that those close to Donald Trump were planning to meet with the candidate and stage an intervention to reset his campaign.

"First of all I find the word intervention completely out of line," Giuliani told Fox Business Network host Maria Bartiromo on Thursday morning, as quoted by Politico. He then turned on fellow Trump ally Gingrich.

"That word, I think, honestly I love him dearly, but I think that word was used by Newt in a memo that got around," Giuliani said, as quoted by Politico. "What a ridiculous word. An intervention is for a drug addict and it's for someone who's an alcoholic and I've had to do them with people at times. There's nothing wrong with them, if that's the case."

"Donald Trump doesn't drink or smoke, by the way," he added. "We don't have that problem."
