Contrary to the accepted wisdom, all publicity is not good.

Yes, the MSM is covering Trump and only snippets of HRC but the coverage is universally terrible and it is damaging the shit out of his campaign.

From TV to major newspapers, to state papers and websites, to many right wing sources, the coverage could not be more damaging.

This coverage is helping HRC and the dems, in state after state. And recent polling proves it. I'm quite happy to see the MSM covering the trump implosion.

POLLS DU JOUR -- DISASTER for Trump -- Donald Trump is down nine points in Michigan, 15 points in New Hampshire and 11 points in Pennsylvania, according to three new polls out this morning. Hillary Clinton is beating Trump 41 percent to 32 percent in a Detroit News poll of Michigan, a state the GOP nominee’s team says is crucial to winning the White House. Sixty percent of voters in Michigan say Trump is not qualified to be president. In New Hampshire, WBUR found Clinton is up 47 percent to 32 percent. Trump and Clinton were running neck and neck there two months ago. And in a Franklin and Marshall poll in Pennsylvania, Clinton is up 49 percent to 38 percent among likely voters.

not very good for someone trying to get 50%.

political coverage skews negative, which is why candidates' approval ratings and general election polling numbers go down as they get more attention.

you have to look at the source. For a reality TV show, there is no bad publicity. It's supposed to be a 5 car crash, so people want to look.

Doesn't apply to politics, though.

Trump is playing a longer game than just this election.

The measure of the success of his PR is not the polling data.

No matter what happens in the election, Trump and his family will make a lot of money.

But Fox News runs stories like this:

The Trump kids, the best part of the election cycle

The 2016 presidential campaign has been an exceptionally nasty one, filled with negative rhetoric, mudslinging and some very dirty politics. But last month at the Republican National Convention, a silver lining emerged from the storm clouds over Cleveland.

We met the Trump Kids: Donald Jr., Ivanka, Eric and Tiffany — four young adults who would be the apple of any parent’s eye. One by one, they infused a breath of fresh air into what has been a very depressing political season.

They deserve our highest praise for their professional demeanor throughout the runup to their father’s nomination — and especially at the convention, where they brought a personal, pragmatic and sincere tone to the often raucous proceedings.

Their accomplishment was even more remarkable because of the adversity they faced as children.

That is not a typo. It does actually say "the adversity they faced as children."

In a party convention beset by distractions -- Melania Trump's plagiarism, Ted Cruz's defiance -- there's been one part of the program that delegates say has been nearly flawless: Donald Trump's grown children.

Four members of Trump's clan capitalized on their prime-time speaking slots. Donald Trump Jr. shared stories of growing up with his dad on job sites and in the office; Tiffany Trump offered anecdotes about the personal notes he wrote on her report cards and Eric Trump shared his pride in being a Trump. And in one of the highest points of the entire convention, Ivanka Trump delivered a passionate, well-received speech on the convention's final night that extended a hand to women voters by promising that her father would work to close the gender pay gap.

Ivanka Trump delivers in prime-time

Ivanka Trump pitched her father, Donald Trump, to the nation's female voters Thursday night, revealing a softer side of the billionaire businessman in a way that almost no other convention speaker has done so far.

His 34-year-old daughter regaled the crowd with childhood stories about Legos and his favorite adages, rounding out the image of the sometimes hard-edged politician that's emerged over the campaign. And in the well-received, prime-time speech, she made a direct appeal to women, who are breaking in polls for rival Hillary Clinton.

Having watched much of the CNN coverage of the RNC convention, I can attest to the fact that the Trump children were all spoken about in very positive terms by the CNN folks.

http://talkingpointsmemo.com/livewire/trump-properties-foursquare-data-visits-down

Donald Trump’s increasingly polarized run for the presidency has had a clear, negative effect on the businesses in Trump’s namesake empire, according to data published Thursday by the location-tracking technology company Foursquare.

Based on looking at users’ location data in the aggregate, Foursquare found that foot traffic to Trump hotels, golf courses and casinos is down since he announced his candidacy, particularly among women in blue states.

The big data tells an interesting story. Before Trump launched his campaign, infamously calling some Mexicans “rapists,” in June 2015, Foursquare data shows foot traffic had been steady year-over-year and potentially saw an uptick.

But after he became Trump the presidential candidate, Foursquare found his properties didn’t see their usual seasonal boost and, by August 2015, the share of people hoofing it to all Trump properties was down 17 percent from the same period in 2014. After stabilizing to single-digit losses, the start of primary season primetime in March 2016 saw a 17 percent drop in share of people at Trump properties.

The picture is more dire in the breakdown of foot traffic to Trump properties in traditionally red vs. blue states, bearing in mind that Trump properties are located mostly in blue states and rely on guests who live in the region, according to Foursquare. Across Trump locations in New York, New Jersey, Illinois, and Hawaii, foot traffic started to take a hit in March 2016, with the year-on-year share losses widening to 20 percent in July.

The losses were even worse among women, whose visits sustained double-digit losses. In blue states, Foursquare found visits from women to Trump properties were down 29 percent in July.

Those are blips.

The Ivanka Trump brand has emerged in a big way.

I think the Trump Empire will end up being significantly better off for all of this in the long run, unfortunately.

I've read that Trump properties (2 specifically here in NYC) have seen their occupancy rates PLUNGE since comrade donnie announced he's running. I would think that small businesses now will be asking for money UP FRONT before they will do business with him (unless they're complete imbeciles). His name is becoming associated with graft and cheating - that cannot help his business.

Media did indeed spend lots of time attempting to mainstream/normalize Trump for a long time. However because of Trump's behavior they are no longer able or willing to do so.

Trying to get people to tune into a show? Can work. Trying to get them to vote for you? Not so much. Will Drumpf become richer for all this? Remains to be seen, but his brand may be damaged beyond repair and his bank accounts drained by the TrumpU lawsuit.
