Do Chris Matthews and MSNBC realize how much they contributed to Trump win

by showing his rallies non stop?

Now they are at it again. He had interesting guests, but had to cut them short to show a Trump rally.

Kudos to Chuck Todd who, when asked and then interrupted, said something like: you ask me now let me reply.

I cannot wait for Matthews to retire - he said he would after the elections - and have someone with more respect to his guests. Like... Keith Olbermann.

Matthews just dismantled a Trump flack. Totally devastated the liar. Matthews despises Birthers/Birtherism and attacked Trump unmercifully with Trump acted as Birther-in-Cheif. To mistake Tweety as a Trump-promoter has no basis in fact.

MSNBC has been very good at exposing Trump for what he is since the day he announced. Hayes, Maddow have all featured videos of Trump to point out his BS.

Larry O'Donnell especially, he's devoted lots of airtime to dismantling Trump's garbage.

The prime-time lineup on MSNBC crushes Trump on a nightly basis and has been doing so all through the primaries.

I have no idea what it's like during the day, but jeez, Matthews, Hayes, Maddow and O'Donnell can in no rational way be seen to be cheerleading for Trump in any way or trying to 'contribute to' his winning anything.

But during the primaries, the wall-to-wall coverage was infinitely less critical. The press is largely responsible for pushing Trump to the top and keeping him there - and denying oxygen to other candidates who could have competed with him if the playing field were even.

But now not only does the constant coverage expose him very unfavorably, the commentary and analyses are devastating.

As Trump famously said: he can shoot someone in Times Square and will still get the votes.

People see his rally, with enthusiastic crowd and this is what matters.

He can dismantle him from here to eternity, but in this visual media - the images are what matter.

"Presidential candidate holds campaign rally" is not breaking news. It does not merit live coverage and especially doesn't merit cutting away from the regularly scheduled programming. If Trump says something actually newsworthy at a rally, that can always be covered later.

And then later turn back once Trump is gone.
Maybe if enough people turned off The Donald,
the media would get the hint.
They're in the business of selling advertising and
that requires an audience. Trump is easy troll food
to snag viewers, so just say no and switch the channel.

'Guess he was afraid Trumpie was beginning to fall behind so he needed some old "insider" information about strategy. Gotta narrow that 10 point national gap!!

Trump equals ratings. A close race equals ratings. Scandal equals ratings.

Hell, I bet they're secretly praying for a Trump victory because "think of the ratings" a Trump presidency would bring.

Trump is a man who would say his Apprentice show was 'the most popular show on TV' when it was say, #34. Ratings for his show were often mediocre and never top of the shop.
The GOP convention did poorly in the ratings, Trump drew fewer viewers than Mitt did. Mitt!

He's not ever been close to the highest paid person on NBC because his ratings did not warrant such a thing. This also indicates that his wealth is exaggerated greatly, as he was able to put a number on his time, Trump has a rate which NBC can meet while still paying many others much higher rates. He's cheaper than a good sitcom actor.
