"YOU Built This."

I just tweeted to Joe Scarborough:

Trump: "If we have nukes, why can't we use them?" Dear Joe, RNC, Republicans, don't be shocked. Look in the mirror. YOU BUILT THIS.

We need to connect the dots, and help others connect the dots, as well. I posted this elsewhere, to DUer KingCharlemagne's most excellent thread - http://www.democraticunderground.com/10028071170:

This is what your long-ago embrace of the worst of the racist South, and the Dixiecrats, has wrought.

This is what you get when you sidle up to the most extremist of the religious fanatics.

This is what you're left with when you've spent the last 30-40 years relentlessly teaching America to hate, resent, and be suspicious of government.

This is what results when you sow discord and hatred and divisiveness. And ENCOURAGE IT! And give it credibility and "respectability" and bring it out of the closet where everyone who used to keep that selfish antisocial and utterly Un-Christian crap to themselves can now stand up and be loud and proud about it! Thank you limbaugh, hate radio, Roger Ailes, and Pox Noise!

These are the conditions you created when you tried to push your idiot trickle-down economics on people, and convince them it'll work. Yeah! It'll WORK! This time it'll work! For sure! Believe me! This I can tell you.

This is what you're left with when you encourage sexism, racism, jingoism, and the worst and basest instincts of "humanity".

This is how it ends when you tilt the playing field, gerrymander the districts so the worst of the worst can easily get elected BY the worst of the worst, and then stay in power. So you've locked this inevitable conclusion in.

This is what happens when your having indulged and reveled in the worst, which inevitably then begets - and then births - the teabagger movement, with you as the collective midwife.

YOU BUILT THIS. Happy now?

---------

I happen to like this because it has the added advantage of turning one of the CONS' pet slogans upside down, inside out, and on its ass.

Excellent OP, and oh, so true!

They've been building this at least since Nixon's Southern Strategy. The result: Donald Trump. They're stuck with him and have NO IDEA what to do.

some republicans to support her.....but other dem leaders and pundits have to be constantly making this point.

Good post.

Their current troubles aren't only with a rogue candidate. Their low tactics of deception, hate, polarization, fear, and media control have created this. Trump is not the only weirdo in their orbit...if not Trump, then someone else similar could have risen in this election or the next. This is not merely an unlucky event for the gop....it's inevitable (especially as their follow-up to a black president). It's symptomatic of a deeper dysfunction.

And making the point Calimary makes builds a case against low tactics and bad gop governing not only wrt the 2016 WH but for all the 2016 down-ticket races and for future elections. This is a golden opportunity to make clear what the truth is about the gop leadership. Trump is offering dems the opportunity to make the larger point beautifully. He's the example that illustrates the disease.

Dems should not be overly distracted by Trump so that the forest is missed for the trees.

The right wing media, the Tea Party, Ted Cruz and Marco Rubio, the Freedom Caucus, Rush Limbaugh, Glenn Beck, Ann Coulter, they've all helped build Trump with their talk about how bad the government is, how bad politicians are. And he's turned on them, and he's gained control. They built an enormous headless blunder of a candidate and they can't control him. He doesn't say what they want him to say, or how they want him to say it, and they have to own it because they've been laying the ground work for this campaign for decades.

I picture 4 of those guys wearing their jock letterman jackets in a big honking boat of a convertible (red with a white interior pre-seatbelts) going to the car hop with their girls to order malts before heading over to terrorize the black family or the guy they consider to be gay. Heaven help either if they're on foot after dark when these guys are cruizin'. Beating "those people" up and leaving them for dead in a ditch was dismissed as "boys will be boys" on a Saturday night. They were also known for being rapists and it was fine if they were from a rich family and the girl was considered to be a nobody. Alcohol was a valid defense back then too.

The next morning they were all smug in their Sunday best.

that would have cost money - he just said he sent investigators

http://www.nytimes.com/2016/07/03/us/politics/donald-trump-birther-obama.html?_r=0
<snip>
Raising questions about the president’s birth certificate — and even threatening to send a team of investigators to Hawaii — had served its purpose, raising Mr. Trump’s political profile and, whether he knew it or not at the time, providing him with the rudimentary foundation upon which he built his 2016 campaign.

He even skirted close to birther innuendo after the massacre in Orlando, Fla., last month, calling into “Fox & Friends” to insinuate that Mr. Obama might sympathize with Islamic extremists. “He doesn’t get it or he gets it better than anybody understands,” Mr. Trump said.

But for all of his fascination with the president’s birth certificate, Mr. Trump apparently never dispatched investigators or made much of an effort to find the documents.

Dr. Alvin Onaka, the Hawaii state registrar who handled queries about Mr. Obama, said recently through a spokeswoman that he had no evidence or recollection of Mr. Trump or any of his representatives ever requesting the records from the Hawaii State Department of Health.

About the government having a hand in building America into a strong country and just trashing it.
Medicare, social security, food stamps and all the other programs that help people?
Just for the "takers".

I cannot stand or understand republicans.
