trump has lived his entire life in a bubble of tremendous rich white male privilege.
he has never meaningfully been punished for any wrongdoings. even when he has bad news, his world finds a way to let him feel victorious. even his bankruptcies he claims as victories, as he triumphed over the lenders he screwed over and now declares himself "king of debt" as a result.
he surrounds himself with yes men who and people who climb all over each other for the privilege of working for him. he even set up a tv show to portray himself as some kind of great boss that everyone wants to work for.
unfortunately for the donald, politics doesn't work that way. not everyone is out to admired you and suck up to you and beg for your approval.
he's completely out of his depth. his insular world has in no way prepared himself for general election campaigning, which actually requires at least a little bit of studying, nuance, judgment, and careful word choice.
poor donnie, almost makes you want to feel sorry for him. almost. ok, not really, but still.

(45,319 posts)Mark Burnett who created that show. He had a gig, for which he was hired. He has now been replaced by Arnold because the host is a replaceable element in Burnett's creation. Trump took a salary but holds no equity share in the show. It's not his show. It's Mark's.
Not that Burnett is some great guy but he is talented with reality TV, Trump could never have conceptualized and developed that or any other TV show.
Just wanted to make clear that Trump does not have the skills set to actually create such a show, trashy as the show is. Not even close.

(52,253 posts)i think the tv show still supports my point. in any case he certainly fit right into the character of boss who encourages cowardly lying and self-promotion and insults and back-stabbing in the hopes of getting a chance to work for that boss. oh, and of course, firing people.
i certainly can't believe his management style differs much from what's on that show. i.e., he'd be a terrible person to work for.
gordon ramsey is equally a nightmare in the good-to-work-for department, but at least his show has moments where he seems to demonstrate actual talent. the apprentice actually does the opposite.
