Fox News - $400 million to Iran in January story - any legs?

My conservative bro-in-law is ranting and raving about this story. Apparently, it first appeared in the WSJ, but it looks just that the US settled an old claim, paid the first payment, and around the same time, some detainees came home. Doesn't seem to be evidence that the two events are related.

Does anyone know anything else about this? Don't want another fucking Benghazi or more email bullshit.

Then it will damage republicans, if they have any legs left after their trump disasters.

I've never heard shit about this story. I just turned it on to Fox today to gloat over the shit storm that is the GOP now, and was flabbergasted to see nothing about it, only this 400 million story that my BIL was talking about.

instead of watching Trump implode. Everyone else is all over the GOP collapse, and on Fox, it's this payment? It's astounding...I'm genuinely shocked at how irresponsible and manipulative Fox is. Shameless.

but going to another site & asking about it instead of just Googleing it is just lazy. Why not just take the 45 seconds to type the question in your search engine or if that's too hard use the voice commands? You could've answered your questions, came here with that information & the claims being made on Fox & given us all of the information so that if we were approached with the same issue we would have everything.

But instead you would rather someone else do the leg work for you.

Nobody is saying whether or not this is true. I asked if people think it has legs. That's different. Benghazi, emails, these stories all had legs. They were bullshit, but they had legs.

I want a fucking blowout in November for Hillary. That means peeling off a lot of these diehard Fox News viewers. But I flip over there, and it's like a propoganda channel.

white college educated men, white college-educated women are polling horribly for Trump. For vets, especially, that's a locked-in Fox News demographic. But if they only watch Fox, they don't ever see anything like Trump yesterday lying about the Purple Heart, or that his campaign is falling apart.

That's all I'm saying. Maybe things will change now that Ailes is out.

this was Iranian money frozen in American and other western bank accounts, unfrozen when the nuclear deal was signed. In other words--it was THEIR money we were holding onto until they agreed to ditch their nukes.

Old story, which Fox has been trying to drum up to counter a) Trump's meltdown and b) the revelation that Fox News was a work environment rampant with sexual harassment.

The US seized a bunch of Iranian money in our banks back in the 70s in response to the hostage situation. We put it in accounts where it has been earning interest over past 35 years.

When they signed off on the nuke deal last year we gave them back those funds with interest included.

Thats all it is....no secret midnight shipments of ransom or bribe money.

It's a first payment on money the Shah spent prior to the overthrow on weapons that were never delivered.

It's a settlement.
