they should have taken him out at the RNC. Now it's too late and they are stuck with him and his daily insanity.
If they try and dump him now it will only create havoc in the Party and split the Party in a million pieces.
One thing I can see happening is that Pence withdraws as VP. I don't know how much more covering for Trump's self-inflicted wounds Pence can deal with.
God knows what would occur if Pence quits.

They did this to themselves, and it is well deserved, but no one should assume Trump is going to be easily defeated. There are a lot of hatred in this country, much of it incited by the media, especially fox.
As for taking him out at the Convention, they couldn't. He won the popular support of the republicans who voted for him
The best they could attempt would be a third party run, which would have the possibility of sending the election to the house, where if the house has a republican majority, it could select the President from the list of candidates

(65,408 posts)national visibility so they can make money later with books and lectures and on the RW lecture circuit--and maybe get a radio show or even a FOX gig. Nowadays they even can shoot for a CNN or an MSNBC gig.
Remember how Ben Carson stopped campaigning for two weeks for his book tour? He saw no conflict because they were the same advertising campaign.

(65,408 posts)bigotry, that kept them in the race--and that got most of them into the race in the first place. Certainly they ARE hateful bigots, but they were running for other reasons.
Their presence in the race, of course, fragmented the anti-Trump vote, so he easily won with about 30% in most primaries.

(11,605 posts)My mom made that point tonight. She said Trump is falling apart too early and he could quit. Then they could nominate someone who could actually win.

(1,574 posts)Trump is too egotistical to quit. If he has a problem it's everyone else's fault. If he is removed somehow the party will be shattered. That is something I would like to see.
