You think the whole world should have turned Trump away the day he said the comment about Mexican immigrants during his announcement speech.
Also rec this if you are fucking amazed that he's gotten this far without getting put down by the media and SOMEHOW the Khan family gaffe seems to be the thing the media finally feels the need to press him on.
UPDATE: Rec this if you're fucking amazed the Khan family event didn't do him in and now the nation is outraged at his second amendment comments! What the actual fuck! Is anything going to actually happen this time?
Holy shit.

(756 posts)he actually said "bleeding from whereever" in a "debate" on national TV. A national disgrace and international embarrassment, and that's an understatement.
Where was the free press? I can only assume they were paid for.

(86,650 posts)That was one of his gratis interviews after he whined about the allegedly tough question she (Megan Kelly) asked him.

I have no argument on that point. He is the lowest of the low. I wouldn't trust him to flush the toilet after I used it.

(52,257 posts)seriously, republicans have said outrageous, bigoted, racist, sexist, xenophobic, homophobic, idiotic crap from the days of nixon, then they amped it up with reagan and gingrich, then they amped it up more under shrub, then they amped it up still more under obama.
they've always said things that seemed "too much", but they never apologize, they either double down or move on.
i really don't understand what it is about trump's statements that finally got them to say, no, we can't double down or dig in on this one.
actually, i think i may have an idea. it's not the statements at all. if a party loyalist had said any or all of trump's crap they'd be defending it as usual.
it's the fact that trump himself is not a party loyalist, he's not shown himself capable of heeding to the party line. they can't control him, they can't trust him.
maybe that's why they're not defending him.

His sound and fury does make heads turn, because everyone wants to see who dealt it. He is the Fart of the Deal. He is not silent, but he is deadly.
Dump stunk up the Republican Party (That was an accomplishment in itself). Now, he wants to the same to the American people.
I rec your post in the hopes that he won't be given the opportunity to wreck our country.

(409 posts)For the longest time I felt like the media, for the most part, was not only giving him a free pass, but actually legitimizing his run in certain ways and lending credence to it. I'm uncomfortable with their role in him even securing the nomination. I guess ratings trump everything else, even if it's to the detriment of our country.
Only now that the's secured the nomination does it seem like they are willing to go after him on certain things a little bit.

(989 posts)forum. Every friggin morning it was all about Trump, calling in and the pundit crew fawning all over him.
They are the reason for the crazy season. FOX we can just ignore because we know where they were coming from all along.
I say we start a Twitter bomb and e-mail bomb to CNN and MSNBC reminding them that we don't appreciate what they did. By headlining Trump so much they have emboldened the most hateful characters among us and endangered our nation. Seriously.

(81,323 posts)I think we should keep him in the race. Other CONS who'd step in to replace him might be harder to beat. And I don't trust Pence farther than I can throw my house. NO religious extremist should be anywhere near the reins of power. Regardless how "reasonable" and "normal" he seems. He's a stealth nightmare dressed in nice-guy clothing.

(3,282 posts)After all of Trump's antics, anyone else stepping into the role can point to that craziness and just say, "Hey! I'm totally respectable! I've never once mentioned my penis on national TV, and I also don't think we should be able to nuke anyone we want! I'm a totally rational choice compared to that crazy guy!"
There would certainly be a contingent of Trump's die-hard supporters who would fly off the handle. I think we'd probably hear from Alex Jones and Roger Stone. But by and large, I suspect that the GOP-at-large would breathe a deep sigh of relief and come back to whoever it was with much relief.
And I guarantee, anyone they put in that spot will be -just- as backwards and dangerous on women's health, the environment, LGBTQ issues, immigration, and foreign intervention as Trump, just with an air of respectability.

(36,926 posts)It was the most vicious, crass and disrespectful spectacle I have EVER witnessed from a politician. If a child in elementary school did the same thing, s/he would have been sternly disciplined. Parents would have been called, and if the imitation were in reaction to another child, like Rump's was, there might have been in or out school suspension. As someone who has worked with children with disabilities for 35 years, it was almost unbelievable for me to watch. And yet he got the Republican nomination for president!

Also, the media is part of the "hated establishment", their criticisms of Trump were brushed aside in the same way so many here dismiss the media.

And why are we as a people not demanding his tax returns? I want to know after his Putin/Crimea remarks if he has financial dealing with Russians and the Saudi's.
He is NOT transparent with his financial dealings.
