(10,857 posts)In the first place, it's illegal and I don't think that Democrats have any need to profit from illegal activity. We've already taken control of this election by taking the high road.
But in the second place, refusing to release the returns allows us to play the same "what's in the box" game that we used to such great effect against Mitt Romney. The prosecutorial mind of Harry Reid took it to its ultimate extent by concluding that the refusal to release the returns proved that Romney never paid any taxes at all for a decade--an allegation which still hangs over Romney and which will prevent him from ever running for President again (and winning).
The same holds true with Trump. He claims he has no financial relationship with Russia; we can say his refusal to release details of his tax returns is primary evidence that he does in fact have that relationship. He claims he donates to charity; the empty record of his tax returns suggests that he does not. And so on. It's a giant question mark that we can use as a weapon against him as long as he remains in politics.

(30,058 posts)With his two cents, proof of their plan. Would this information be enough to change my vote in the primary, no, there has also been remarks about Obama and the DNC for several years, not surprising. Assange skirted, danced around, diverted on answering the questions this morning about who hacked the emails, he says he has to protect his sources and wants to "whistle low" but is in bed with illegal activity of hacking.
