Mother of soldier killed in Iraq: I was too 'in pain' to speak at convention

She surely doesn't need to make excuses, especially to that loathsome man. I thank you from the bottom of my heart for your sacrifice.

Mother of soldier killed in Iraq: I was too 'in pain' to speak at convention

By Evelyn Rupert

The mother of a Muslim U.S. soldier killed in Iraq said that she was too emotional to speak at the Democratic National Convention this week after GOP nominee Donald Trump criticized her husband's speech and her silence on stage.

"Please. I am very upset when I heard when he said that I didn't say anything," Ghazala Khan told ABC News. "I was in pain. If you were in pain, you fight or you don't say anything. I’m not a fighter, I can't fight. So the best thing I do was quiet."

Khizr Khan, who roused the convention crowd by questioning Trump's sacrifices for the country and wielding a pocket-sized copy of the Constitution, said he asked his wife to speak, but she said she would be too emotional to do so.

"I invited her — would you like to say something on the stage when the invitation came? And she said, 'You know how it is with me, how upset I get,'" he said.

Their son, Capt. Humayun Khan, was killed in Iraq in 2004 by a suicide bomber.

Trump lashed out at the pair Saturday, speculating that Khan's speech was written by Clinton advisers and suggested that his wife was not allowed to take the microphone because of her Muslim faith.

“If you look at his wife, she was standing there. She had nothing to say. She probably, maybe she wasn't allowed to have anything to say. You tell me,” he said earlier Saturday.

"I don't know what type of Islam he has read or heard," Ghazala Khan said.

It is sometimes better to not say anything. Trump is such an asshole.

He thinks he knows it all when in fact he doesn't know his ass from his elbow about basic human decency.
