(5,420 posts)That was great to see. It's really kind of sad that many of those think Obama and his presidency is exactly what we know Rmoney and his would have been. They think the country is in danger from Obama just like we know it would have been in trouble with Rmoney.
Too bad Fox and hate radio exist.
Of course, most if not all have some real racial hatred to begin with for Fox and hate radio to be able to preach it to them.
Blanks
(4,835 posts)I'm not saying that there isn't any racism involved, but I don't think it's as big a factor as the hate for liberals.
It's also possible that they hated Clinton because he wasn't racist, but unless liberal is code for black; there was a lot of hate toward liberals.
Meaniepants
(19 posts)Bill Clinton was our first black president. Or so says Mark Thompson from Make It Plain.
Blanks
(4,835 posts)That Clinton was our first black president.
Still, I don't believe that it is because of racism that the republicans don't like him. Unless hate radio's use of the word 'liberal' is code for 'black'.
I expect that the right-wing hatred for liberals is similar to the nazi hatred of Jews. It's ideological in nature; not race based. Based on brain washing instead of facts.
Again, obviously not in every case, but a lot of hatred toward liberals has been whipped up over the years.

There is a special place in hell for Rove, the Koch brothers and the

I feel nothing but sadness for these victims of the Republican delusion.
They have no clue as to how to join the rest of us in taking back our country.
They actually believe that Rmoney was their "great white hope."
A man who lied to them, has betrayed them and doesn't give a crap about them.
It is also a very sad visual portrayal of the level of ignorance among some our

I was listening to a C-SPAN caller the night before the election. She was calling from Florida, and said her entire family (60 people!) were voting Obama. Her reason was Romney's lack of military service.
She didn't elaborate, but given that President Obama isn't a veteran, I'm assuming their stance had something to do with Romney's war-mongering stance, his draft-dodging, or his apparent lack of planned support for our returning military.

I've never been to Michigan-- I've been to West Virginia, Virginia, Texas, Oregon, Washington state, DC, and I think that's it. Oh, and Nevada and Montana and Hawaii. We live in such a huge country!!
My parents came from Canada-- Alberta and Ontario-- my dad was so happy to be living in California.
cheezmaka
(737 posts)and almost "everything" is affordable except the "property taxes". A "shotgun" house in Detroit has the taxes of a 4000 square foot house in Tennessee. I have been to Texas, Virginia, Hawaii, and California. I absolutely LOVE the climate and beauty of California! It's such a cool and laidback place...
ailsagirl
(22,899 posts)but the farther inland you get, the warmer in summer. I lived near Sacramento and it could be 110+ degrees for two weeks straight! At least, my Dad (who was raised in Ontario and would know) always said it was a dry heat, therefore much more comfortable than humidity. I know he's right, but it's hard not getting ANY rainfall from June through October. This is my favorite time of year. BTW, what is a "shotgun" house? A quick sale?
cheezmaka
(737 posts)and HUMIDITY. Especially being from Tennessee. I'll take "dry heat" anyday. A "shotgun" house is a very small house (less than 1000 square feet) and is long (small in the front and goes back. almost long like a "shotgun barrell" lol). They're mostly found in urban areas and poverty stricken neighborhoods.

(11,607 posts)As much as I dislike the Republican Party, I am not going to start gloating at individual supporters who are disappointed. Almost all of us over the age of 25 have been those people at some point and it's a really crappy place to be in. Every time I drive past exit 89 on I-95 in Maryland, I still get a nauseous feeling remembering that that is where I was on November 3, 2004 when my mom called to tell me Kerry conceded. I don't wish that feeling on anyone, especially not rank and file voters and activists who put their heart and soul into a campaign they believe in.
It's one thing to laugh and crow at the right wing pundits who were predicting a Romney landslide on TV. But putting up pictures of disappointed people who probably supported Romney as passionately as we supported Obama so DUers can take pleasure in their disappointment serves no purpose, and it's just plain mean in my opinion.
Yesterday was a great day for our country, culminating in the re-election of a good president whom I still believe has the potential to be great. Yesterday was a great day because it means the Affordable Care Act will be implemented and the war in Afghanistan will end in 2014 and because we will have four more years of a leader who is a steady hand in a crisis. Yesterday was a great day because Obama's re-election and the election of some great Democratic senators is a mandate for a more equitable tax system and women's rights and progressive legislation on immigration. Yesterday was a great day because the Republican attempts to suppress the vote failed. Yesterday was a great day because we re-elected a president who cares about 100% of Americans, not just 53%. That is what we should be celebrating, not the fact that some Romney supporters were understandably disappointed.

(737 posts)I don't like the Republican Party either but the pictures I rather see are that of Rove, Limbaugh, Palin, Bachmann, McConnell and the other pundits who wanted to see Obama fail. I remember the Clinton Impeachment, Al Gore, and Kerry's concession. I was satisfied to see Romney's Face Tuesday night. He's an out of touch multi-millionaire that can go back home and live his rich comfortable life. I believe these people in the pictures are fellow Americans who want the best for this Country but have been disillusioned by the pundit's right wing radical ideology.
