As a writer can I just ask for some love for the writers in that convention?

Every word, every script for the films, every speech, every carefully crafted story, every bit of soaring rhetoric was crafted by a writer (either the speaker or most likely the speaker in concert with professionals who know how to shape those personal narratives). It looks like magic but it's careful craft. Every time I heard some snarky "But they haven't mentioned..." I knew I was listening to someone who didn't know how they were building an arc, lifting the audience and creating connections both within individual speeches and along the entire span of the week.

Contrast this to that other one, where every night they told you what the theme would be and then they simply didn't follow through. I'd throw shade at THOSE writers but frankly they didn't have much to work with. Endless fear-mongering isn't craft. It's anti-craft.

So here's to the writers. They helped make that convention great.

Sometimes the speakers were the writers, for sure. And what a gift to be able to do both! nolabear Jul 2016 #4

They struck just the right tone. Conciliatory without being condescending, patriotic without being too militaristic. We took back our flag!

They let Kaine be the attack dog so Obama could stay positive (although I hear Obama wrote his own speech, right?). Bill showed us a side of Hillary I never knew. And Hillary knocked it out of the park.

and even I as a devoted Democrat did not expect it. So grateful to all those who worked so hard to make this one of the most memorable Democratic Conventions ever.

I, too, am a writer and an oratory buff. It's refreshing not to be insulted by bad speeches. The perfect mix of humor, depth, details, zingers, heart, and meeting the immediate goals of a speech while setting long-term philosophies for your party and country.

I felt like my IQ dropped several points during the RNC. Crooked Hillary, build the wall, make America great again, lock her up. All this from a party whose nominee says he knows words, the best words.

And couldn't imagine the enormous effort and thought that went into it. Each speech was a piece of the mosaic that created a compelling narrative to underpin the main messages. Bravo/a to the writers.

The writers did easily as amazing a job as the speakers did. Well done from start to finish.

Inclusive to a degree I didn't think it was possible to showcase in a 4-day convention. The speeches were wonderful; SO many of them will be remembered for years and years. Usually you get one good, standout speech in a convention. The one everyone remembers.

This year, I think Hilary's, Michelle Obama's, President Obama's, Bill's, and non-politicians like Rev. Dr. Barber and Mr Khan, will be remembered very well as historical speeches for many years.

was a moving tribute to our hopes and dreams of a better world for each and every person, no mater their race, religion, gender or sexual orientation. It is not about who we are as a person, it is who we are together. That makes the campaign slogan so important. Stronger Together.

No one group of people should stand alone, I will fight for my brothers rights just like they will fight for mine. We will move this forward in unity.

Thanks nolabear.

On message, clear and emphatic points, coherent themes throughout, these people nailed it.

Effective communication is hard, these folks nailed it. I'm proud of THEIR work.
