2016 Postmortem
Related: About this forumKids, we have seriously underestimated this convention.
War on ISIS, you say? Here's your General Allen and a thousand generals and vets. HERE's your American military, and they are NOT interested in Donald's passionate opinions.
They have been holding the best for last.

(9,148 posts)the intensity and how it builds Hillarys message & vision for her Presidency.
They have told the story of Hillary Clinton. The one that was stepped on, silenced, and censored since she announced her candidacy.
That is what this week has done for the American voter.
The slander & lies have been shown to be b.s.. political sabatoge, and the real Hillary Clinton is known and wholly endorsed.

you hired a biker gang

(10,252 posts)One screw-up after another. D-list speakers, at best. Jumbled confused and contradictory messaging. Lies, lies, and more lies. Nothing to exalt the American people. Nothing to inspire me. ugly, ugly, ugly.

(10,497 posts)almost all of the major bike club s in the country. These guys could do Swan Lake much better than the Republicans can do their convention or govern this country! It would be funny to watch Spike dance in a tutu, not so much to watch Republicans at any time!

(9,148 posts)Oh yes he did!
Thank you sir!
Today he tweeted that he hadn't been in charge of his convention, he just went where they told him to. LOL!! So different than pre-convention where he said he would personally be in charge of the convention and it would be HUGE, Beautiful, the best ever show biz type convention. Epic fail on all points and now he just lies about it. Soooo par for the course with him. He had his hat handed to him and he was 1000% shown up. This was the best convention ever, the messaging was nearly perfect, except for some Bernie/Drumpf jerks. True Bernie supporters, those that get and support his message, wouldn't be so disrespectful and such jerks.

Just the viewing alone - the DNC's convention looks like a rainbow of humanity! The RNC's version looked like a frickin' Klan rally.

(3,056 posts)Looks (and sounds) to me the Republicans should just start planning for 2020.

(889 posts)More and more it seems like they are focusing resources on house and senate races. I read today where the Kochs and Rove haven't spent a dime on trump thus far. It's pretty astonishing that the fucking Kochs feel like he's such a dumpster fire they don't want to get involved. I think he's in a lot more trouble than the media, who are horse race driven, really understand or want to admit.
WinstonSmith4740
(3,056 posts)With the number of Republicans flat out saying this was the convention they SHOULD have had, plus the Republicans actually there endorsing her, plus well, they're running The Donald, I think the power structure is going to concentrate on the down ticket races. They'll try (although I don't think they'll be very successful) to hold onto the House and Senate in an attempt to do the same thing to her as they did to Obama. And as much as I love Obama, I think Hillary's tougher.
RonniePudding
(889 posts)She's also white, so it gives her an inherent advantage. She can tee off on them with impunity without being called the angry black guy. They might label her as shrill, but it's not quite the same thing.
In a lot of ways I think Obama may have been a little too concerned about that, particularly in his first term.
WinstonSmith4740
(3,056 posts)I also think he had to battle his own party. I never, ever thought Harry Reid really had his back. I live in Nevada, and lost count of the emails and phone calls I made to his office that started with "Are you kidding me??!!" I really love the way he has kind of adopted the "I don't give a damn" attitude in his last year...it's too bad he really couldn't do it sooner. Hillary already has had to battle the bullshit for years, and has a damn steel spine. She won't give a damn if the Republicans get butt hurt. And if Chuck Schumer tries to pull the crap that Reid did, she will take him to the woodshed, probably publicly.
RonniePudding
(889 posts)Being slurred by these pigs for 30 years either makes you or breaks you. I think we all know how Hillary handled it!
maddiemom
(5,106 posts)And here I was wondering how they could top the first night. Almost all the speakers were specific and impressive; although some got a bit too fire and brimstone, they stayed on topic. The entertainers, not only knocked the Republican entertainers (well, a couple of C list actors and basically cover bands), completely out of the box, but spoke intelligently and showed some political knowledge. Trump's windy speech versus Hillary's (which was also a bit non-specific, but how much could she go into) showed a truly painful disparity. Now the question is; are we or are we not a majority "Idiocracy"?
