On Sunday morning, I was watching CSPAN and a Repug lady called in and said that the Presidentwas going to bankrupt this nation. She said he had spent over "a Billion dollars running around the country on Air Force One to play basketball with his friends". When the host, Steve, asked her "a billion dollars", where did you get this information. She said I heard it from someone or read it back in September. She probably did hear it from someone, but hearing it doesn't make it true.

Also, does anyone remember how just after the 2008 election, and the Repugs were in a tailspin about a possible Stimulus Plan, and saying that we can't afford it. John McCain went on the talk show circuit and said that we can't afford all this wasteful spending and cited as an example, that a replacement fleet of presidential Marine One helecopters had been placed and that these helecoptors were in essence going to be the Rolls Royce of Presidential helecopters and we didn't need them and we couldn't afford them. Well these helecopters had been ordered by the Bush Administration. President Obama, once he was sworn in, cancelled the order for the new helecopters. It's my belief, that if McCain had won, we would have a new fleet of presidential helecopters and not a word would have been said. Also, this President, unlike past presidents, kept the furnishings in the Oval office from the prior administration as is, in spite of the fact that every administration has built into the budget funding for a complete renovation of the Oval Office and the family quarters. Obama said the furnishing were just fine. They Obamas also past on the government money to renovate the family quarters instead choosing to renovate the family quarters at their own expense. And these are the people who become the victims of right wing bigoted folklore.
