Lesson I learned the hard way: "What you feed thrives

and what you starve dies."

To my fellow Berniecrats: It is time to starve the unproductive bitterness that would keep us from defeating the bigot that would tear this country apart. It's time to feed the righteous anger against the Republicans who support keeping the poor poor.

It's time to starve the idiotic notion that a vote for Jill Stein will do anything to move us toward the political revolution we are fighting for. It's time to feed the reality that we need to field and get out the vote for real progressive Democrats.

Are you pissed at DWS? Then defeat her with your vote and support for Tim Canova.

Is Hillary a pure progressive? No. But, she isn't Donald Trump, either.

Elizabeth Warren and Bernie Sanders are all in for our progressive values, and for Hillary Clinton. But, they are not her lap dogs. And, when she is president, because they will have helped get her there, Liz and Bernie will have the power to hold her feet to the fire.

If, God forbid, Trump wins, our revolution is dead in the water. If Hillary wins, we progressives will be calling the shots in 2018.

What you feed thrives. What you starve dies. Starve the bitterness. Feed the forgiveness.

Vote your hope, not your fears.

Don't boo Hillary. Boo Trump. Elect progressives down ticket where we can, and make sure we can elect them everywhere come the next mid-terms.

Right now, we cannot allow the perfect to be the enemy of the good. Let's take what we can get now, and set ourselves up to get the rest in the next two years!

I can see that it has been particularly difficult for some of Bernie's supporters to find a way to support Clinton. I see some of them talking about how Sanders and Clinton are "polar opposites" on the issues. I wonder at what has caused them to come to that conclusion. The often intense competition between Sanders and Clinton for the nomination obviously helped to create this "polar opposites" delusion.

But, anyone who supports Clinton should ask themselves, "If you had supported Sanders and if you sincerely saw Sanders and Clinton as 'polar opposites' on the issues, would you be able to support Clinton?" I wouldn't.

That "polar opposites" delusion may be at the core of the real problem here. It is a delusion. In fact, both Clinton and Sanders have long shared the same political goals. The largest differences that I see between them concern the extent to which their common goals can/should be emphasized in a national campaign.

But, I believe we have moved her to a place on those positions that she can't retreat from if she wants more than 4 years. They aren't polar opposites, and I do celebrate with my daughters who supported Hillary because she is breaking the glass ceiling for women.
