2016 Postmortem
Related: About this forumFrom this older caucasian dude
I want to thank all my sisters and brothers from all races, creeds, and sexual orientations.
Without you all what happened last night and this new day in America would never have took place.
If left in the hands of us older white males we would not be moving FOWARD!!
I love you all.

(60,347 posts)All the right wing crazies assume you think just like they do and when they realize you don't they nearly go ballistic on you. I will always be liberal, there is nothing that will change that!

(15,673 posts)well, that gets weird, too. Yesterday, I sat in Panera and listened to 2 older white men saying the most vile, racist things and they thought it was ok to do that b/c everyone around them is white.
And, today, I kind of feel bad for not saying something but in reality, I wanted to see how far their crazy would go and, let me tell you, it went pretty far. They were SURE they were going to win and they were all prepared for the riots that were going to happen as a result.
And I was feeling pretty smug because I just knew they were wrong on this one!

(47,675 posts)I'm at least white and a man. But we aren't a majority in this country. Technically we never were since women comprise about 51.8% of the population on average. I think that's a longevity thing. Men do stupid stuff and kill ourselves off early because of said stupid stuff. The only demographic rMoney had going for him was the angry white guy. That's also the only demographic he actively campaigned to attract.
I rarely get out of bed at 3:30 in the morning, but when I opened the mini and saw that Obama had won, I couldn't have gotten back to sleep if I'd wanted to (which frankly I did). He didn't just win, he handed rMoney his ass on a silver platter with gold trim.

(11,527 posts)when she lets me, she's firmly in control of that.
Oh, and I do get angry quite often also. But not like the teabaggers.... I get angry when I think about how much better this country could be if we could just get past old ideas and change a few things. Like for instance I'm very angry that we don't yet have national healthcare, I get angry when I think about our crumbling infrastructure, I get angry when I see rich people getting richer off the backs of everyday working people while the rest of us are treading water.

(17,796 posts)there's so much we need to do and the opposition keeps stalling. Guess a few million more for them is more important then the lives of the rest of us.

(25,415 posts)Obama's toughest demographic but the ones that did vote for him deserve my thanks. My 65 year old father is a conservative and so many of his friends are too. Nice to see some that are proudly liberal. Thank you.

(3,576 posts)If these Republican neanderthals in the do nothing obstructionist Congress don't start playing ball with the President and pass the American jobs act, among other things, they are going to be sent packing in the midterms. Deservedly so, too.
That's a 62 year old wasps opinion.

(17,505 posts)Indeed.
This 56 year old white haired guy doesn't care if you are liberal or conservative. Just not INSANE.
I voted for the SANE party! And will continue to do so....

You guys Rock!
I too am so proud to have stood with this coalition of Americans.
America is daily becoming less white, less religious, and less racist. I welcome the future and I particularly welcome what these facts mean to this iteration of the Republican Party.

(100 posts)Hoping we will continue to put a sock in the white priveledge era. We have the president that makes everyone priveledged to be a citizen of this great nation, if only they will see.

(131 posts)Yep. Caucasian, 54, heterosexual, cowboy hat, pickup truck, short hair, country music, rural, I even own a couple of guns and I voted the straight Dem ticket and for medical marijuana. And from now until I shuffle off this mortal coil, I'll be voting as liberal/progressive as is humanly possible.
But you let me start talking about that down at the feed store and they'll look at me like I'm some sort of enemy infiltrator. And just the other day, my neighbor once again called me "The Devil" as she was hating and reviling me for not letting her shove her religious beliefs down my throat.
It gets weird sometimes...
