2016 Postmortem
Related: About this forumThe "Bernie or Busters" are right, but they're also NOT right
Where they are right: As long as we enable the system, the system will never change. It's like dealing with an addict
Taking a principled stand deserves admiration, not condescension.
The DNC rigged the game, and new leadership is not the final answer to that problem. Serious reform is required.
Where they are NOT right:
Bernie is asking you, leading you, to support Clinton and defeat Trump.
Since Bernie is dedicating himself to defeating Trump, BoBers will have to ask themselves the following:
If Bernie has earned your trust, why not trust him?
Do your plans for Bernie conflict with Bernie's plans for Bernie?
Bernie is finding a way to move on, and so should we.

The email leak established that, and the DWS resignation proved the emails were legit.
Back on point, we have the most progressive platform in our party's history, and I credit that to the fact that the BoBers are out there, providing leverage for Bernie to open the doors to institutional change. But if we Bernie supporters want that door to remain open, we've got to find a way to wrap our heads around the fact that fairly or unfairly, this race is now between 2 candidates - Clinton and Trump. Neither Stein nor Johnson will win, and Bernie wont run.
Bernie or Bust? Better understand what might get busted by following that path.
Myself and other Democrats who were Clinton supporters, we have been saying this was serious. It truly violates what the DNCs proper role should be, said Edward G. Rendell, a former DNC chairman and former Pennsylvania governor.
The DNC did something incredibly inappropriate here and needed to acknowledge that, Rendell said.

This is one of the few posts that actually helps Clinton and hurts Trump.

(30,481 posts)I would argue you just made the case for Sanders, not BoB's. They are not the same and last night we learned many of them don't know who Sanders is.
"What they did wrong"
You describe some of Sanders virtues and clearly outline that they don't share them.
I believe you put forth two points that alone go against your thoughts that they pertain to BoB's.
I say that respectfully. I think many of us would like to believe what you just posited. Their own words don't back up this more virtuous picture of them.

(51,014 posts)The DNC did not rig the game. In days of asking, no one has been able to show me a single email that amounted to anyone rigging a game.
This is the system. If you want to change it, get all those "highly principled" BoBers off their asses during midterms and voting for down ticket candidates.
There is nothing to admire about these ignorant, entitled brats.
