2016 Postmortem
Related: About this forum"Never let the perfect be the enemy of the good." : Sen. Ted Kennedy
The progressive, liberal 'Lion of the Senate' spoke truth.
In legislation, in political candidates, in life, you can't always get the 'perfect'.
In fact, you rarely do.
You can't get EXACTLY what you want.
But you may be able to get something BETTER than what you have.
When the perfect isn't obtainable, you go for the better.
You sure don't go for the worse.
That's just common sense.
Hillary Clinton may not be your 'perfect' candidate.
But is she not a 'better' candidate than Trump?
Seriously.
By voting for a Green or Libertarian you can comfort yourself that you've stayed true to your principles.
And you just might hand your country a Trump presidency.
Do you really want that?
I wanted Bernie.
I lost.
Please, PLEASE join me in voting for Hillary.

(24,010 posts)..."never let the perfect be the enemy of the good" requires the patina of having spent a few decades on the planet. We have a young friend who just turned 32, who is harshly critical of all politicians (and most people in general). Almost no one in government is able to meet his standard of purity. He liked Senator Sanders until the senator endorsed RC, at which point he labeled him a "sellout."
I am twice his age.
