Bernie Sanders started a political revolution. Now he can’t stop it. - By Chris Cillizza

Bernie Sanders spoke to a large group of his supporters on Monday in Philadelphia. The crowd cheered as Sanders ran through all of the successes he and his self-professed "political revolution" had run up this year: the millions of votes he won, the reduction in superdelegates, the takeover of state parties by Sanders supporters.

Then came time for the pivot. Sanders tried to tell the crowd that now was the time to line up behind Hillary Clinton and her running mate, Timothy M. Kaine. Boos cascaded down. Shouts of "no!" And then a Sanders chant started up.

Sanders was at a loss. Here he was telling his most loyal supporters what needed to happen next in order to unify the party and beat Donald Trump. And they weren't listening. They wanted revolution. Now, not later. What was clear for anyone watching Sanders's unsuccessful attempts to calm the churning among his supporters is that the revolution he started is no longer one he can totally control. Or maybe even control at all.

This is the nature of centering a presidential campaign — or any campaign, really — on the absolute necessity of radical political change. Sanders, who has been working within the political system — albeit it on the outskirts — for decades, gets that at the end of a losing campaign, you line up behind the person who won. That's just how things work.

It would be a great thing, and shouldn't be at the mercy of a single individual.

Sanders stepped in when Warren declined.

These folks will never be happy. Unless they get everything they want all at once.

Bernie got to see that today.

A revolutionary can go to a convention and demonstrate. Where can these revolutionaries go next week when the conventions are over?

It will be a time to face reality. I have confidence that those who are progressive will be voting Democratic in November.

And many here who mostly 'disappeared' or went back dormant were whining about banning non-Democrats from picking our nominee.

Never. Fucking. Again.

However, I think that Sanders has known for some time that he could not control these people so I'm holding him accountable. It began right after Clinton won California when he would make comments like, "I can't tell them who to vote for, she has to earn their vote." It's comments like this that says to his public, "Wink" "wink", you're free to do as you please". He and his supporters did not raise any funds going towards this convention and their candidate is not the presumptive nominee and therefore, they have no stake in its outcome but to be disruptive.

The press has been all over the "Bernie or Bust" crowd since yesterday, and as long as the press continues to give them a forum to vent their anger and frustrations, they will continue. They have been interrupting all the speakers, and there is no reason to believe any of this is going to change as the day and week progresses. They got damn near everything they wanted in the Platform and now they want the things that they didn't get, and anyone who thinks that things will be any different once they have everything they want but Sanders, it won't stop even then. They won't stop until Sanders is the candidate. I hope that the Democrats have the backbone necessary to make sure that he pays when this is all over. We don't need his vote in the Senate or him to caucus with us. Where is he going to go? Go caucus with the Republicans? He had to have known that he couldn't control his base, because he said it enough times. If he didn't know, than he's stupid. You can't keep telling people (like Trump did) that only you are their saviour. That the system is rigged and that only you can fix it, and then say wait, wait, wait. It's not so bag as the other fellow. We'll fix it next time. Stay tuned and remember where we left off. In the mean time go out and get yourselves involved in your local politics. We'll meet back here again in 4 years and do this all over again.

Give me an f'ing break. I'd have more respect for Clinton and the rest of the Democrats at the convention if they just took the vote, and got Hillary officially nominated and adjourned. I don't want to watch this bullshit for the rest of the week.
