When Hillary Clinton comes to Philadelphia this week to accept the Democratic presidential nomination, shell be bringing the partys biggest stars with her.
President Obama, Vice President Biden, first lady Michelle Obama, Bill and Chelsea Clinton, and Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.) are among the heavy hitters who will be speaking at the Democratic National Convention on her behalf.
Democrats are excited about their deep bench of surrogates, believing it gives them a huge advantage over presidential nominee Donald Trump and the Republican Party. The party in the White House always has an advantage in this regard, said Matt Mackowiak, a GOP strategist and writer for The Hills Contributor blog. I would give them a star-power advantage, no question.
White House aides have said the Obamas and Biden plan to actively campaign for Hillary Clinton in the coming weeks. The president hit the trail earlier this month with Clinton, previewing the unique role hell play as a two-term incumbent campaigning for his preferred successor.
