‘It’s frightening’: Morning Joe terrified by Trump-Putin ‘bromance’

-snip-

Talking on Morning Joe on Monday, Hillary Clinton Campaign Chairman John Podesta said that even if Putin wasn’t responsible for hacking and leaking the Democratic National Committee’s emails over the weekend to help Trump, it’s clear that there’s mutual affection between Trump and Putin.

“What we have is a kind of ‘bromance’ going on between Putin and Trump, which is distinct from this leak,” he said. “And we have the Republican Party platform moving back, saying they won’t defend NATO allies.”

Co-host Joe Scarborough then pointed to Trump’s “extraordinary” interview with the New York Times last week where he said that he wouldn’t protect Baltic NATO countries from a Russian invasion unless they paid what he deemed to be a sufficient amount. Mika Brzezinski also chimed in and called the connections between Trump and Putin “frightening.”

For his part, Trump this morning dismissed any talk that Putin was helping him win the general election, although he did still boast that “Putin likes me.”

The Hillary campaign goes into damage mode, upon finding out everything Sanders and his supporters were saying all along about her biased DNC, the scheduling of debates, the purging of voters, the manipulations, particularly in closed-primary states, and yes even the data breaches were manipulations to help Hillary win, and keep Sanders off the airwaves.

This idea that the Russians give a crap about this election is quite absurd.

But hey, it's nice to be vindicated, and have all the smug folks who thought it wasn't happening, proved wrong.

Trump has tipped off Putin that he can invade Balkan states without repercussions from the US if he's president. Trump owes his oligarch buddies huge amounts of money about which Trump won't come clean.

The NSA would know, if Russians hijacked the DNC emails. Tragically, with the exception of Donna Brazile, Hillary folks don't like to apologize for their idol's corruption.

Far as things go, with Hillary we're still going to have wars without end. Both are going to boost Wall Street's fortunes. Both will service Big Pharm, and Big energy--they are going to be disturbingly alike, in many ways, including the TPP and trade agreements--Oh wait, she's not going to be as liberal as Trump on that one, since she embraces them. The Clinton's pretty much started trade agreements for the Democratic Party, pumping up the trade deficit to astronomical levels, and shipping jobs away by the millions.

important that the republican nominee is playing footsie with pootie than you didn't get the candidate you wanted, you're delusional. As for asking for an apology (like you did downthread from Hillary supporters who have zero to do with the DNC), don't hold your breath.

Pay no attention to the content, or the stolen, corruptly run election. Focus on the fact the Hillary campaign are "saying" the Russians did it. It is much more "Hillary friendly."

Many posts on how we should ignore the leak because it was the Russians and we were just helping Putin do his dirty work. Now, from Hillary's own campaign chairman they aren't sure if Putin was responsible. Way to determine your message of deflection and then proceed to fuck it up by Monday morning. Now everyone needs a new deflection on why the emails should be ignored.

At least not in a manner that can be proven. I even saw posts where people claimed it was traced back to the Russians and there was no doubt it was Putin working for Trump. Trump and Putin may very well be a thing, but it isn't the thing everyone made it out to be this weekend. Deflection only works if you keep on message.

The Washington Post also reported the other day that the Trump campaign, which generally took no interest in the Republican Party’s official platform, took special care to add language about U.S. policy towards Ukraine – a new position that contradicts GOP foreign-policy orthodoxy – that brings the platform in line with the policies of the Russian government.

We dance around descriptions. For most of the primary, we were all amused by Trump's tenuous relationship with the truth. We excused it, minimized it. And we're paying the price. He's a liar.

The relationship with Putin is not a bromance. It is a horrifying and inextricable link to a dictator. From what I've ready, he owes his very existence to the infusion of Russian money into his crumbled empire. The vig on that infusion? Not money, but rather dismantling America's treaty obligations, all to Russia's advantage. Trump has gone well beyond the pale. He is now, more than ever, a national security threat.

And how does your candidate react? She appoints DWS to her campaign?? Embrace the corruption, I guess.

Trump is getting played by Putin, who doesn't give a sh** about him or respect him at all. Putin would prefer to deal with a US President who is an intellectual and political lightweight.

I would have thought that Joe was smart enough to see through this.
