Related: About this forumThe only State we lost from The Obama Campaign's 9-State strategy was...
North Carolina.
I knew they had their act together.

(80 posts)I'm still pissed about that because I live in NC. Hate living in a red state.

(2,117 posts)This state is still full of crazies and zealots. I saw no less than 3 FB postings after it was announced that Obama won in which people refer to guns and/or ammo.

(645 posts)NC is trending blue and trending fast, when we won it four years ago we were winning nationally by 7 points, now when we barely lose it we are going to win by at most 2-3 points nationally.

(68,868 posts)Republicans will have to fight and spend and invest every four years there.

(1,574 posts)Even though NC was lost the GOTV people really kicked ass there in the face of tall odds.

In 2008 he received 2,142,651 votes--and won by 14,000 votes.

There were Dem candidates for State offices who received more votes than the President.
Beth Wood for NC Auditor 2,304,687
Elaine Marshall for Secretary of State 2,333,542
June Atkinson for NC Superintendent of Public Education 2,340,000
Janet Cowell for NC Treasurer 2,316,823
Draw your own conclusions. I think the loss is a sign of racism.

(181 posts)Mad we went red, but I guess we were the distraction. We stayed competitive enough for Romney to spend money down here. Money that he was unable to spend in other swing states.

(22,672 posts)Let's pickup where we left off here in the next election. Thank you for you gallant efforts. It was a hard fought battle.
And all that battleground $$$ has to trickle down into the system and stimulate your local economy. Hope so.

(211 posts)Besides, if it's any consolation, a lot of people assumed that Virginia would head Romney's way. But nope - it's blue! So, we lost one state but gained one we weren't even sure we had.
I like to think it was because North Carolina distracted Romney's campaign so much. They didn't notice the Democratic forces building power just a little North! Good job, N.C.

(321 posts)that's for sure. POTUS had an excellent ground game here, but we still have too many backwards rednecks. But demographics are changing here for good and better.
We need to turn our sights now to 2014 congressional races and get the teabaggers out.
