The media is making way too much of the DNC WikiLeaks

Last edited Sun Jul 24, 2016, 01:53 PM - Edit history (1)

I hosted a brunch this morning for my two college aged daughters and a dozen of their friends, all former Sanders supporters. When this issue came up, they all were unconcerned. To summarize their views…they all thought that the DNC was bias toward Hillary all along, but they understood it as a given. Bernie was the outsider, billed himself that way, and Hillary has been an active Democrat for decades. Therefore, it was reasonable to assume that the individual Democrats running the DNC would be pro-Clinton. Bottom line, they felt that if Bernie had started sooner, and had made inroads with the party, then this would have been more of an issue. The DNC was under no legal obligation to be neutral. They – to a person – are all supporting Clinton/Kaine, and many are becoming active supporters.

I'm infinitely more concerned that this country is on the cusp of electing a full blown Putin acolyte who wants to end NATO, get us out of the WTO and to allow his master to run roghshod over Eastern Europe. The emails are a fucking side show to the potential threat this country will face if the Cheeto Incubus is elected. If that doesn't disturb you more than then the DNC helping their favored candidate we're done here.

I am not going to disregard the way Wasserman Schultz ran the DNC because Putin's relationship with Trump is a bigger story. I think we should expect that the media cover both stories, but they do tend to get stuck one story at a time.

1. The DNC’s communications director was eager to point out negative angles for Sanders stories

Luis Miranda, the national communications director for the DNC, is seen in two separate email chains briefing reporters with both Politico and the Wall Street Journal. In one email thread with Politico’s Daniel Strauss, Miranda told Strauss that he would “point out… some of the issues” with Sen. Sanders’ DNC committee appointments “off the record” with Strauss to help him write his story. Strauss initially asked for Miranda to send the list of appointments over “with no fingerprints attached.”

Do you think in future Democratic Primaries it's good for voters to feel like the fix is in? Some people on DU are sounding like Bush supporters in December 2000: Get over it! Move On!

This is not about Bernie or Hillary: It's about ethics. DWS behavior is in no way acceptable!

And it doesn't sound like they were confused.

But, hey, since everyone assumed the DNC was biased as to the outcome of the primary and planned ways to make that outcome happen, then everything's cool.

It's a crazy world.

I less than care ... except the media is ready to jump on anything to make our Democratic Convention look bad. There were protests last week at the Republican convention but I only saw one brief report on one protest otherwise you would have thought everything was wonderful in Trump Nation.
They LOVE it.

It was very ugly and full of hate. The news showed the RNC for what it is....very angry and terrifed people raging about what they see as unfair.

Just his speech showed who and what they are.
