Senator Tim Kaine's powerful, emotional gun control speech

during Senator Murphy's filibuster.

I know there are reservations, and he's not my first choice, but it seems to me, he's on our side. He's a decent human being. He's an experienced legislator and leader. Criticising him with hyperbole and melodrama about what a terrible choice he is only helps Trump.

It is a heartfelt and powerful speech. I'm not sure why there is so much hyperbole and melodrama going on about this. The fact that we could be electing our FIRST female President should be more than exciting. I have never seen so much ridiculousness surrounding a VP pick.

personally, and every decision that does not court them personally is an insult to them.

It's quite ridiculous.

There are a lot of people I'd be happier about than Kaine, but I get that we need to appeal outside the current base. I get that his usefulness might lie specifically in the fact that he doesn't particularly appeal to me.

We need a yin to her yang to appeal to demographics we're looking to take from Trump. If we can pick off non-college males, we've got it in the bag.

Yes, it is heartfelt and emotional, but he is speaking about a Democratic party failure to pass gun control legislation as a response to the Sandy Hook massacre in part because the proposed 2013 legislation had nothing to do with the Sandy Hook massacre. It appears to be lost on Senator Kaine that Sen Murphy's proposed legislation in 2016 also would have done nothing to prevent the Orlando massacre which inspired Sen Murphy's push for more gun control legislation.

Proposing gun control in response to horrific shootings that would have done nothing to stop or lessen the severity of the horrific shooting is a failed strategy.

Maybe there is a better example of his leadership on an issue.

Doesn't make me like him as VP, but it helps as I will have to pull the lever or fill in the circle or whatever I have to do to vote for Clinton.

Lieberman comes to mind. Ugh.

I don't think this one is terrible. I would have preferred Becerra, Brown, Booker, or Warren, but he'll do.

This is still not final, anyway. This is media speculation.

Glad it helped.
