http://www.cnn.com/2016/07/19/politics/hillary-clinton-vice-president-search/index.htmlThe running mate will be publicly announced on Saturday.
Democrats close to Warren and Brown are virtually certain they will not be picked. It also sounds like Hickenlooper, Castro, and Stravidis have been eliminated from consideration as well.

(1,048 posts)As someone who is half Latino I was really hoping for Castro but I don't think he meets the experience threshold. In 8 years when Clinton leaves office he may be a contender for the top job. But not quite yet. I honestly am surprised Tim Kaine is still so much in the running because I thought he was disqualified with the recent info about his disclosure of gifts that were deemed in appropriate.

(7,963 posts)Watren, Hinkenlooper, and Castro. Was thinking today that they met briefly with Hillary be a use she is going with someone else in person.

(2,493 posts)Nobody else will excite the base and I don't understand why she'd pick someone else. Kaine/Vilsack are completely uninspiring.

I'm going to be disappointed.

(456 posts)This is going to be a turn out election. Democrats are going to vote for Hillary. She will get 90+ AA vote, but she needs to drive up her Hispanic vote. Although Kaine isn't Hispanic, his ability to speak directly to that community in Spanish is a viable asset. Its one thing to have Spanish speaking surrogates, but its a whole other to have someone on the ticket who can communicate to that population.
