The response is very, very scary. Apparently they are small countries who have never had gods blessing so there is nothing to remove. But apparently if a powerful country like the US who used to be god fearing abandons god there is hell to pay. They really believe this stuff. After hearing this shit several times I have started asking, in a sincere tone, then maybe we should become a weaker country so as to not attract gods wrath. The conversation normally ends.

In let's say a not nice version of the faith and thought myself an atheist for years. Then found something that worked for me. And your red letter Christian comment is pretty accurate. Read those words and leave the polluting stuff out and it is a pretty good ethos. Buddhism gives it a run, but that is too foriegn for me.

I learned about the Red Letter Christians in my United Methodist Church....Tony Campollo. Loved his books. Our preacher did classes on his "hot potatoes"....it was awesome. Honestly, when I was going to that church I FELT I was living a better life. But we moved, that preacher headed back south and we couldn't find anything like that again, even here in Pittsburgh.

SO we left the church and that was that. But my hostility grew for the church which I find to be a negative thing. i wish that pastor would move here. LOL
