I'd rather hear more about issues

The political conversation has been reduced to topics better left to Facebook. Plagiarism has ruined more than one career, but I hope that MSM moves on to issues such as jobs, the environment, equal rights, sending troops all over the world, refugees, all kinds of things to talk about.

Bluster and lies anyway. If 10% of the stuff on their platform was ever enacted there would be a revolt of world class proportions.

SO CLOSE TO AMERICA'S NUCLEAR ARSENAL? He's just been nominated, people are on their feet cheering, and the role call of the states is about to begin. This is surreal.

to more people? I'm getting a little more assertive about my own opinion. Some things will never be a negative to people like religion in school, but how can anyone accept breathing in crap?

governing is an attitude and a feeling....not policies, or ideas, or action. it's what you say and how you say it. This makes a lot of sense to me and even makes sense out of Trump....he's all bluster and emotion and no policy.

kind of reminds me of the Rove quote about reality. Reality is CREATED. You don't need facts, history, or action. Just need to be loud.

Usually every 4 years you might also get some club for growth guy farting about a flat tax, but I don't even think they're going to bother with fiscal stuff this time. The Trump Voter is operating straight from the lizard brain.

Many of Republicans don't believe what's in it means anything much, but the fact is those people don't control the party. The ultra-right behind the GOP is plotting to get control of SCOTUS and reinterpret our constitution out of recognition. These would be only a start to placate social and religious conservatives. The planned government structure and economic reformations are not addressed here.

The Most Extreme Republican Platform in Memory

... It is as though, rather than trying to reconcile Mr. Trump’s heretical views with conservative orthodoxy, the writers of the platform simply opted to go with the most extreme version of every position. Tailored to Mr. Trump’s impulsive bluster, this document lays bare just how much the G.O.P. is driven by a regressive, extremist inner core.

* Mr. Trump’s anti-Muslim phobia and fantasy wall across the Mexican border are front and center,
* along with his protectionist views, which deny long-held positions of the party.

No less alarming is a raft of planks that ideologues pushed through to banish any notion of moderation and present-day reality from the party’s credo. This majority has triumphed in securing retrograde positions that include
* making no exceptions for rape or women’s health in cases of abortion;
* requiring the Bible to be taught in public high schools;
* selling coal as a “clean” energy source (no such thing as global warming);
* demanding a return of federal lands to the states;
* insisting that legislators use religion as a guide in lawmaking;
* appointing “family values” judges;
* barring female soldiers from combat; and
* rejecting the need for stronger gun controls.

* The platform also makes homophobia and the denial of basic civil rights to gays, lesbians and transgender people a centerpiece. It repudiates same-sex marriage, despite strong support for this constitutional right in the nation at large. The party invokes “natural marriage” and states’ rights for determining which bathrooms transgender people may use, and it defends merchants who would deny service to gay customers. ...
