2016 Postmortem
Related: About this forumTrump on Melanoma's speech:
"It was a beautiful, beautiful speech. She's gonna make a beautiful First Lady, just beautiful. She's bright and smart, and beautiful. And frankly, all those who complain about her choice of words? It was an improvement on the original. She's making America Proud again! Just a great speech!"
"Wait til you hear Don Jr's speech tomorrow. I read his rough draft. Just fantastic. Brilliant. He will make a fantastic First Son. It starts, 'Fore Score and Seven Years ago.' It gets better after that. Imagine golf and imagine Don Jr. as Secretary of the Supreme Court and Legal Stuff."
"Tomorrow I will announce the rest of my cabinet. Ivanka will be Secretary of Trade and Design, because she has her mother's good taste. She will be just great in her job to Make America Rich again. Steve King - you remember him? He's that congressman from New Jersey and I can't wait to see what he does as Secretary of Immigration and Muslims. And there is a spot of Chris Christie. He will be Secretary of Libel and Slander, because the lazy, lazy media keeps getting things wrong. Very Wrong. It's disgusting. We need a Secretary who can fix those laws and Christie is just the guy to do it."

(22,048 posts)Please don't call Mrs. Trump names. The Donald is fair game but I think we're more adult than the Republicans with their childish name-calling.
Thanks.

(2,510 posts)And I think Melanoma kind of fits. All the Trumps are a cancer.

(22,048 posts)My point was that one's argument is weakened by using childish insults, such as name-calling, which is, by the way, the technique most often used by the Republicans.
There are plenty of things with which to attack Mrs. Trump. For example, since she is a naturalized immigrant, how can she support her husband's position (such as it is) on immigration? That highlights the hypocrisy of the candidate and it forces her to confront her own position.
But, that's just me. I think we can agree that the Trump family is a dangerous cancer.

(3,867 posts)That is really funny
I feel bad for her, she was pushed into sth I'm sure she didn't want to do. She couldn't tell the truth about her creepy, maggot of a husband. And Michelle Obama of all people, the people dim don & his group of crazies vilify the most! Wonder if the Obamas were watching, hmmmm that sounds familiar.
Now if dim don would just use some of the Prez's speeches, he wouldn't sound like a 4th grader, who needs his mouth washed out with soap.
dim don came out of the smoke like emerging from the jowls of hell.
Rabid Rudy was ready for apoplexy.
Hillary must be enjoying this, especially after all the lies they told about her, & everyone is talking about Melania's speech.

(11,175 posts)I agree that, when Melania decides to step up and speak at the convention, she becomes fair game, both for substantive criticism and for somewhat childish namecalling. (We can't get on a high moral horse about Freepers who call the President "Obozo" as long as we're saying similar things about Trump. For better or worse, that style is part of contemporary American politics.)
BUT twisting her name into that of a form of cancer is, IMO, unacceptable.
I'm not talking "trigger warnings" or the like here. I'm a cancer survivor but I didn't have any flashbacks from reading your headline. It's just bad taste.
Obviously, this is just my subjective reaction. To me, "der Trumpenfuhrer" and "tRump" are acceptable but "Melanoma" isn't.
