Black Votes Matter, Sometimes They Count Twice.

Published on dKos:

Republicans convene in Cleveland today, a major crime scene of the 2004 Presidential election. Ohio votes were NOT counted as cast. Kerry votes were counted for Bush and many votes were miscounted. Heavily-Democratic Cuyahoga County, including minority-dominated Cleveland, reported one of every eight Kerry voters in the state. Cuyahoga County reported a million voters casting over 600,000 votes, 10.76% of the Ohio vote.

Ohio 2004 was 72% punch card voting and Cuyahoga was a punch card county. Punch card voting enabled vote switching. Ohio candidate names rotated to the top of the ballot list an equal portion of the time, a statutory requirement. Election officials ensuring this equal rotation combined differing ballot orders at locations shared by several precincts, creating an opportunity for fraud and errors.

How do votes count twice? Moving a punch card ballot for Kerry to the next precinct where the same punched hole counted for Bush subtracted one from Kerry and added one to Bush. The ballots bore no marking identifying precincts. An immense sample of votes indicates this happened at a rate altering results by over 6%. Accurate tally was dependent on precinct chain of custody, from giving the voter the correct ballot, casting it in the correct precinct, and until tabulation.

Every switched vote 'counts' twice!

was in charge off the election process. Blackwell, a Christian fundamentalist, began his sabotage of the Democratic vote, long before Election Day.

3. The number of ways they shaved points in Ohio 2004 remains to be fully counted would be my guess.

Voter caging, removing voters from the rolls, inadequate number of voting machines, these alone reduced voting tremendously.

Even more blatantly political, the Repub state party chairman controlled the election board counting one in eight Dem votes in Ohio!

New Ohio SoS seeks resignations of Cuyahoga BOE, includes GOP chairman.

.... the complaint against the remaining Cuyahoga County Board of Election officials

Thursday, Secretary of State Jennifer Brunner issued a detailed complaint .....

... accuses Bennett and Florkiewicz of numerous instances of misfeasance, nonfeasance and violations of state election law in five distinct areas:

* Failure to adopt adequate procedures for election recounts resulting in the felony convictions of two board employees.

* Failure to manage competently the board's financial affairs.

* Failure to ensure the efficient administration of elections in 2004 through 2006 .........

It didn't matter to them how many ways Bush had screwed up the Iraq War.
