2016 Postmortem
Related: About this forumGOP operatives are dreading the convention, poor babies.
How did they ever wind up in this pickle?
And meanwhile, some DUers worry that Dems aren't enthusiastic enough about Hillary.

Whats there to celebrate? asked Jay Zeidman, a Texas health care executive whose family has been a major benefactor of the Republican Party. The party has hit rock bottom in terms of leadership.
I dont want anything close to the appearance of supporting Trump, said Jason Roe, a veteran party strategist. This ship can sink without me as a passenger.
For most, the conventions lack of appeal boils down to one thing: Trump. The New York businessman has shunned the establishment class, reaching out to few of the operatives who worked for his primary rivals and making little effort to bring them on to his team. As a result, many of the Republican ad makers, pollsters, and fundraisers who populate Washington have little desire to witness his expected nomination.
That many of those same strategists remain convinced that Trump will imperil the GOPs down-ballot prospects makes it tougher.

The future of GOP wet dreamers.
Crazy bastards.
I hope they don't forget to call him "Crazy" as his offer was.

(4,037 posts)The Republicans brought this on with nobody's help but their own, and I, for one, am rejoicing in witnessing a party go down in flames. They deserve it. Stupidity of this magnitude used to be imagined, but for them, it's real - and its spectacular (Seinfeld). From the lunatic LaPierre, to the likes of Cruz, Palin, Rubio, Christie, Lindbaugh, Hannity, and please, let's not forget the notorious Sherrif David Clark, this stuff is too good to be true, BUT IT IS!!!!!! And, it's hilarious.
So, party on, GOP. Its hard to recall a time in my life when I have laughed so much at the stupid statements emanating from your elected officials, not to mention your "presumptive candidate". I mean, really, really stupid.
I am sitting with baited breath to watch the GOP convention, and only hope that I don't laugh myself to sleep. Unfortunately, all of this drama has made the USA laughing stock around the world. We deserve better.
Someone pinch me, I think I'm dreaming this nightmare.

(12,448 posts)this convention is going to get. Donald Trump as their nominee is the product of decades of racism, misogyny, xenophobia, and hatred of government. They all sold this shit to their base; Trump is what they get.
