The Republican Convention Is Falling Apart.

The GOP has reaped the harvest of its decades-long folly, and 2016 turns out to be a very, very poor crop.

Party leaders and elected Republicans are shunning the convention publicly, and Der Drumpf is having trouble even finding speakers for his convention. And yet, he has those delegates chosen by the voters in the 50 states.

An attempt to put a question about "unbinding" delegates failed to get enough votes in the rules committee to even cause a floor vote. So, The Donald™ is going to be the nominee for the Geezers Only Party this year, regardless of the party's dislike for the orange-haired orangutan.

Eat it, Republicans! You grew it. Now eat it. You let the teabaggers force the party to the fundamentalist far right. Now, you have your reward. Your nominee will be a lying, fraudulent, bankruptcy filing moron. He may not even make it to the election, actually. He could easily drop out before November in some fit of pique and sociopathic rage.

Good luck, GOP. You plowed your fields. You planted the seeds. Now, choke on your crop. Enjoy your meal.

Those millions of people in this country that support Trump will only ridicule the people that skip the convention. As long as Trump keeps saying the things he does, they will vote for him.

The Republicans have almost always been grandstanders and have failed to govern.

Think of the ridiculous number of votes in the House to repeal the ACA. Anyone with a brain would have known that they would never have the votes in the Senate to pass such a bill and that President Obama would never sign it. What a waste of time and money.

Then we look at their endless harping about the Benghazi attacks. Nine investigations have found no evidence of wrong doing and their Republican "investigators" have even admitted as much. Yet, the RNC will waste an entire evening- 25%!- of their convention regurgitating this nothing-burger.

It eludes me how voters can keep sending these clowns to Washington.

Is that they have nothing else to offer other than this folly. They can't really talk about their real goals, though they certainly have gotten bolder recently. While I have issues with parts of the Democratic Party, there are plenty of positives here.

Now the GOP is stuck between a "rock and a hard place". To say I have no sympathy would be a gross understatement.

There's always a big bounce for the nominee during and after the convention - ALWAYS. The media is downplaying expectations on purpose, it's a set-up. You are also right that racism is still very alive and well in this country and Drumpf has the market cornered on that demographic. That's why GOTV efforts are so critical. Those hating racists will be very motivated to vote. We have to be more motivated than they are or their hate will rule the day and our country's ideals will be totally destroyed.

people don't care. they will see the headlines and sound bites on fox and be happy.

it doesn't mean he will win, or won't, it just means there will be no harm done by a screwed up convention.

The reds usually draw at least 48%. And that is close in any election once you get into state by syate races.

Don't assume anything. gotv. hit them every chance we can at every level.

What I'm worried most about are the asshats who just want to break something, to knock the table over, or whatever adjectives you want to use. They want chaos, because they think they can control trump for four years and then rebuild everything perfectly.

What they are going to get is 4 years of someone far worse than cheney having complete and invisible control. Plus a supreme court well to the right of scalia and thomas.

As for Trump, yes he seems to understand the free media, but he is also being advised and apparently pushed in other directions right now. Ohio has open carry for long guns and handguns thanks to Kasich the terrible and the tea party legislature.
