2016 Postmortem
Related: About this forumIf Hillary picks Warren as VP, she gets the Bernie voters that may have gone
to Stein this week and be back up into the high 40s in a few weeks. Meanwhile Donald will never win back the 10 % who are going to vote Libertarian. Does that sound like a plan?

(19,814 posts)like I said Tim Kaine is a democrat.
But i listen to him and I want to open a vein in a hot tub.
I want her to pick EW but that may be to "risky".

(23,156 posts)Somewhat as a default position, because I REALLY wanted Warren to run.
At this point, with Bernie out of the race, with Hillary as the presumptive nominee, I do NOT want Warren as the VP choice. I want her to remain in the Senate, where she can do an enormous amount, far more than in the weak office of the Vice Presidency.
More to the point, Hillary's choice of VP will not make me any more or any less likely to vote for her than I am already. And to see Elizabeth Warren in the secondary slot would NOT make me happier.
What Hillary honestly needs for VP is someone relatively innocuous, someone at least fifteen years younger than she is, someone who can campaign for her, bring in some votes that she otherwise wouldn't get, and who will be happy to fade into obscurity. If that person is young enough maybe he (or she) can look for the top slot in four or eight years, but don't count on it.
I suppose his (or her) fitness to move into the top job in the worst possible scenario needs to be a consideration, but I wouldn't even concern myself too much about that.

(72,790 posts)I would say the same if Bernie were the nominee. I would not have wanted Bernie to pick Warren.

(89,250 posts)I think warren would be a great pick for many reasons but not because of fools who support stein.

I watched the Kaine audition today and it was not good. He was not good, and HRC was near the bottom of her range following up in a cold hall. No chemistry today. Doesn't bode well. If one doubts it, watch the videos from today. Then watch the one from Ohio with Warren and Clinton. What a difference!

(2,586 posts)The only question is, how STRICTLY a neoliberal the choice will be. I am hoping she makes an electrifying & historic pick with more progressive leanings than solid neoliberals, someone like Xavier Becerra or one of the Castro brothers, but someone more like Tim Kaine is more likely.
I think that the choices I promote would increase her chances of keeping that ogre out of the White House
