I remember when he picked Holy Joe. All the charisma of a clam and a closet republican to boot.

Sheesh.

I have to think his blind spot was only heightened by some REALLY bad advisors-- on that choice and many others in that campaign.

I am a little nervous re: HRC's pick. I still agree with you that Sen. Warren would be tremendous.

Here is an old article about Gore's short list: http://abcnews.go.com/Politics/story?id=123200&page=1

Looking back, maybe he should have tapped Sen. Graham of FL.

He was my senator and is an honorable, decent man. Unfortunately, history is history and we got that whiny little scrotum from Connecticut instead.

That annoying little shithead added nothing to the ticket. Gore's campaign was desperately trying to distance itself from the Clinton presidency and its scandals, and they thought bringing in one of its holy critics would do the job. Big mistake. Huge.

Gore had his reasons, but they were not good ones or good choices. He needed to be as bold as Clinton was when he picked Gore.

That ticket would have fared better, I think. And Edwards (maybe) could have avoided his later power meltdown that torpedoed his family life and career.

But a Jewish running mate would have a lot of upsides. Al Franken or Ron Wyden come to mind.

I just never saw what Lieberman brought to the ticket.

That being said, I don't think John Edwards would have been a good choice either. Even though I liked him before he became a lying douchebag, that would have been 2 white guys from southern states.

But getting 60% of the Jewish vote is very different from getting 80%.

Most of the high Jewish populated states are safely blue, save for Florida.

As it was in 2012, Florida is the Democrats' checkmate state.
