(13,218 posts)Idiot voters are equivalent to a random picking machine. Thus when the ignorance level rises high enough we get a random pick, and this enables the Republicrats a chance to win.

(5,715 posts)The democratic base that turns out to vote is about 47%, the rest (for getting to 51% or more and winning) is made up mostly of independents and a few republicans. Many voters really haven't been seriously following this race yet. This business about the emails is a momentary setback (thank god it's only july and not october) or this could be problem. Also, we are still months away from the election. Trump will say or do a few more stupid things in the meantime (as we all know he will) and Hillary will soon be ahead of him again.
Just you wait and see....

(1,151 posts)A lot of rural voters can go back 40+ years and tell you which D policy (and year and politicians and specific laws) they blame for closing their factory and shutting down their auto mechanic or grocer, and forcing the local family farms and banks to be sold to a big company and generally ruining their local economy while helping big business and big cities.
I may think they're wrong about the reason for a shutdown or the party that caused it. Or the laws & regulations were justified. But I don't find them to be idiots (or to talk about racial laws over those 40+ years - in most towns) when we talk politics.
