That sound you hear is hearts breaking everywhere after Donald Trump told the Washington Examiner that former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin can't attend the Republican National Convention in Cleveland because it's simply too far away.
Palin, the 2008 Republican vice presidential nominee who's been a huge cheerleader for Trump, was a logical choice for a convention speaker. But Trump said that she could not swing the 11-hour flight from her home in Alaska.
"She was asked," Trump told the Washington Examiner in a Thursday interview. "It's a little bit difficult because of where she is. We love Sarah. Little bit difficult because of, you know, it's a long ways away."
So Palin, who endorsed Trump in January and has praised him in blog posts and speeches, won't not bear witness to the ranks of Trump's unconventional convention speakers, including Ultimate Fighting Championship President Dana White and Christian football star Tim Tebow.

(22,037 posts)I mean, really, it's too bad because Sarah Palin is always good for amusement. Donald Trump probably didn't want her there, anyway.

(81,323 posts)That's the ONLY reason why she isn't coming. She couldn't find anybody to pay her way. Wonder why her GOOOOOOOD friend Donald didn't pop for it? Weren't they thisclose? (HAH! My autocorrect tried to make thisclose into "thistles"!)

(46,130 posts)Sarah Palin's version of her last son's birth (Trigg) has her making a speech at an RGA energy conference in Dallas on April 17, 2008. Her water broke; she made the speech; and took the next plane back to Alaska because Trigg HAD TO be born on Alaska soil. She compromised the survival of her fetus as well as her own health.
Again, Palin flew from Dallas to Alaska while having contractions and Trump now says Alaska is too far away from Cleveland?
I think he told her stay home or else.

(2,895 posts)Some people thought she was pretending to be the mother to protect one of her children, but it would have been better to cop to that, since the alternative explanation made her seem insanely reckless, with zero judgment.
She didn't mind traveling to appear on "The Match Game."

(15,222 posts)Seriously. That's probably the real reason that The Donald didn't want her. I realize that's a shallow answer, but that's the way he is.

If that's a tacky thing to say, I will pre-apologize. But as a feminist, women who try to join the good ole boys network really irk me.

They are being "nice" instead of saying that they don't want Sarah stinking up the place with stupid remarks to the media.
