2016 Postmortem
Related: About this forumHere are the Republicans who aren’t going to Donald Trump’s convention
The Republican National Convention starts next week in Cleveland, but quite a few key attendees will be missing.
This, of course, is because of Donald Trump. The billionaire tycoon has been frustrating and flustering prominent Republicans since the moment he emerged as a frontrunner late last year. Their disagreements with Trump range from the political to the stylistic to the personal, but many Republicans who find their candidate unsupportable have decided on the same course of action.
They just wont show up.

(15,805 posts)He can't even get the top leaders of his own party to show up at their own convention. Trump doesn't even have any celebrities on the playbill, no movie stars, no entertainers, no musicians, no millionaire donors... there's not even anyone willing to talk to a chair. The only sports figure he's signed up is the photo op guy who is only famous for posing with a football at the goalpost.
What's left? Trump is down to nepotism, so the national audience will have to sit through his creepy kids schlepping for their father.
