I just want her to choose a running mate who increases her chance of winning.

As you said we need someone who increases her chances of winning and gives her a foothold with some group that she's currently got lackluster support with.

We already don't hold the senate, and if the expectation continues to be that without 61 voters (or wherever the goalposts are this week) we can't get anything done then what the hell is the difference anyway.

conservative along the lines of a Manchin (WV), or Bayh, or even McCaskill; folks who tend to vote along GOP lines more often than rank and file Dems.

From that list I would predict Joe Manchin. Tweety has mentioned a few times on Hardball how much he would like to see her choose Kasich for a sort of "unity" ticket...so there's that possibility as well.

Let's assume he's with us on the issues.

Is he good at politics?

To strain an analogy Lebron James is a great basketball player but I doubt he could beat Brock Lesnar in a match.
