They're the ones who are quite happy - proud even - to be thought of as bigoted, racist Neanderthals who've barely made it into the 20th century. You can't blame the rest of us when we're merely observers of this display. If you have a problem with it, talk to them.

When my wife and I honeymooned in Niagra Falls (Canadian side), we crossed the Rainbow Bridge to the US (New York side). We had encountered friendly, wonderful people on the Canadian side. But, after we crossed that bridge, the people all of a sudden became rude, arrogant, and were assholes. Seems you follow the trend.

Oh, but I'm just making an observation.

87. No, that's a pretty accurate desciption of Niagara Falls NY.
Thu Mar 15, 2012, 09:14 PM
Mar 2012

It's a lower-middle-class, working-class city whose economic base formerly consisted mainly of chemical processing and manufacturing, and it has been a toxic dumping ground for about 150 yrs.

(The best depiction I've seen for present-day Niagara Falls is Michael Moore's Canadian Bacon.)

In the last 50 yrs, most for the jobs have gone, the Olmsted parks have been chopped up & neglected, and the only job growth it's seen lately are at the Seneca Niagara Casino and couple low-wage call centers. Unfortunately, tourism & cultural development has never been a high priority for either the local or the state govt. Hopefully, with some new funding & new leadership that will change.

As you no doubt noticed, things are entirely different on the Canadian side. Tourism & cultural attractions ARE a priority there - planned early on in the '70s and '80s & funded by the provincial govt in direct response to the same economic downturn that made Niagara Falls, NY a wasteland.

So, you see - when I see a problem in my own backyard I can acknowledge it, understand it, identify the reasons for it & offer solutions. Why can't Southerners do the same?

I am from Nashville, TN now living in northern Indiana. You ain't seem nothin' till you see the good ole boys up here. And go to some parts of rural Canada - yikes! Southern Indiana has an incredibly strong Klan presence as well. I have found in my travels that it has more to do with a rural versus urban thing. The rural south, north, east and west all have people like this. By the way, I'm a black girl that loves the south. People have a lot of different experiences down there.

P.S. The first time I was ever called "nigger" to my face was in Cincinnati, OH.

My feeling is that the overt racism will be worse this election year than it was four years ago ... because now the bigots can frame their hatred as simply being against the reelection of a sitting President.

The only silver lining is that I think this is clearly the desperate last gasp of the reactionary, racist right-wing. They are angry, afraid, frantic ... and doomed.

98. Speaking of those, I knew a guy who had a very wicked way of getting back at people
Thu Mar 15, 2012, 10:27 PM
Mar 2012

who made the mistake of blocking him in to his city parking spot. I don't endorse this method, as that would be WRONG, but I do find it amusing.

He'd take the caps off of the valve stems of the tires of the car blocking him in, and then take small balls of tightly wadded tin foil and stick that in the caps, then put the caps back on the tires. The result would be a slow leak....in all four tires.

He never saw the results of his wickedness, but it always gave him a great sense of satisfaction to do that--he'd chortle about it as he called for a taxi to go to work.

He never got repeat offenders blocking him in, either--perhaps, on some level, they KNEW...!

They are talking about the President of the United States.

There should be some sort of law to stop things like this happening. A monkey disgusting...this is the President they are talking about. I don't know what else to say. This is not free speech. This is attacking the President in my opinion.

I said it because these bumpers stickers are a sick and digusting attack on our President. And of course if this is said about anyone it is horribly racist but I was coming from where the bumpers stickers were going right into our President's face.

If only he energized the left to the same degree by his action.

Since I hail from Michigan, I am an avid Eurche player. When I hear the term re-nig it I think of it in euchre terms. Although I do not believe that was the case in this bumper sticker.

When one reneges while playing cards, racism isn't the issue. Spelling renege as "re-nig" is inescapably racist.

(I am appalled by most of the responses to this OP--blaming and shaming the pitiable people whose lives are defined by such hatred and fear is neither helpful nor fruitful. Suggesting that their cars should be keyed--even in jest--lowers us to the same level of resentment and retribution. How sad.)

If you look just above and left you'll see a sticker for Benelli. They are manufacturer of high quality tactical capable shot guns and rifles (www.benelliusa.com)

I found a 'source' for this particular sticker and yes they offer a whole range of offensive stickers.

It's about as far away from humor as you can get. Some political stickers, even if I don't agree with them, I can see that the sloganeer was trying to get somewhere.

This fails on all levels. It's just hateful.

The most charitable of them was, "Shit, may-un, if ten of 'em cain't run a MacDonald's, how's just one of 'em gonna run the whole country?"

I'm so fucking sick of this shit. It is the 21st Century, right? (I often feel compelled to check.)

I think they work on some ignorant people," said Dallas Democratic judge Eric Moye. "I think they're calculated to play to the most base fears that people have. And I don't think it's unintentional - it's as coordinated as the use of the SuperPacs."

The Internet trail begins on a Facebook page.

Before it disappeared Thursday afternoon, a "Stumpy's Stickers" Facebook page described a the administrator as living in Old Town, Missouri, from Port Tampa Florida, and said they went to Robinson Senior High School.

Politics are part of the page, which shows a plane painted with "Stop Obama" under its wings.

The Facebook page leads to a StumpysStickers.com, where even more anti-Obama bumper stickers, as well as several others, are for sale. Stumpy's Stickers appears linked to a firm in tiny Camp, Arkansas.

Arkansas corporate records don't show information for the company. It's domain registered to a firm in Bellevue, Washington, which provides the service.

"They use it for recruiting," said Roberta Clark of the Anti-Defamation League in Dallas, describing Internet hate groups. "They use it for fund raising. They appear to use it for both those on this site, and they are successful with it."

I have actually seen some people in a different discussion forum trying to justify this and suggest that it's not necessarily racist! I couldn't believe my EYES! My response to that was "Whoever designed and manufactured this bumper-sticker, and also the person who put in on their car were either being overtly racist, or simply are SSSOOOOO DUMB that they did not realise what a TERRIBLE choice of wording this was. Either way... they were either horrible, hateful people or increadibly dumb. I would not be proud of myself either way if I were them. And if I know anything about human nature... I'd say it was most likely a mean, racist jab... followed by a totally insulting attempt at feigned ignorance, "Oh! I didn't realise that was a provocative wording!" Yeah right! EEeeehn! GET OUTTA HEEEERE!"

I live in a peaceful neighorhood, we don't have a lot of crime or trouble.

I think that car would not do well if it was parked on my street, though. I don't think it would take much time before expressions of dissatisfaction were manifested with regard to that offensive signage.

I can't believe that sticker. I am dumbstruck.

Is there a white robe and hood lying across the back seat?

Where was this picture taken?

Saw very similar on back of Ford PU, SE of PHX early or mid-2011. AZ plates. Took a second to decode.

Shocked but not surprised. I work heavy construction, and see lots of similar sentiments Sharpi-ed inside porta-johns.

Rush Limbaugh and his ilk have done thier job well.

I wonder how a bumper sticker would go over that said "I am ARMED, and I VOTE DEMOCRAT" Carries the vernacular, doesn't it?
