To Ornstein ― who over the years has come to believe that a dysfunctional Republican Party is largely to blame for official Washington’s failure to solve the nation’s biggest problems ― the party factions’ inability to agree on how to deal with Trump foreshadows the difficulty they will face regrouping after November.

The worst possible outcome for Lincoln’s party: It will have learned nothing from its hostile takeover by a celebrity entertainer with a gift for loudly repeating the things its voting base wants to hear, Ornstein said.

Unfortunately, the way battle lines are being drawn already, and with the all-but-certain-to-continue agitation by talk show hosts and others in the conservative ecosystem, the same factors that allowed a Trump nomination will remain in place after November, Ornstein predicted.

“I just don’t see any resolution to this for a long time,” he said.

It is only when they are THIS bad, like Bush II lying us into Iraq and blowing up the economy bad, do they every feel any wrath from the voters. And, then, their disasters are quickly put out out memory, see 2010.

Even if they get the ever losing crap knocked out of them in November, I can guarentee they will gin up some bullshit ((see, ACA, the biggest threat to democracy in our history, see Hillary e-mails, see Hillary breathing air ... etc), the media will gleefully legitimize is, the dolts of this country will eagerly gobble the bullshit down in shovel fulls and greedily push one another to get more to shovel down.

it is a sad commentary that his is a fairly lone voice saying the plain, simple and obvious truth that this country's inane instance to indulge conservatism's never ending push to its extremes and pushing our country backwards is our primary fault.

He is 100% correct in calling that out.
He is also 100% correct that like the scorpion and frog, they won't learn shit from Trump and will continue to be the hateful, divisive, seditious scumbags they are.
