I'm good with most of the platform...but does the defense plank HAVE to be this rigidly hawkish?

Why do we have to commit to always having the largest military in the world?

(As a practical matter, no other country has any chance of ending up with a bigger war machine than ours anyway).

Why no willingness to even consider reducing the war budget?

Why no talk of even trying to move past war as the primary means of solving disputes?

There's never going to be a progressive reason to go to war again, after all(none of the wars we're in in the Middle East have any possibility of a progressive or even humane result, and nothing but ugliness and more death could ever come of us sending troops into Ukraine, since the armed factions on both sides are equally reactionary and nationalist).

I'll back HRC in the fall, as I've repeatedly promised, and Bernie wasn't as dovish as I'd have liked to see, either...but does our platform really have to say, in effect "Fuck Peace!"?

Will this party always say no to trying to move past war as this country's default international mode?

The American people aren't THAT obsessed with subduing the rest of the world.

It reads like boilerplate to me and nothing really egregious in there.
