Loretta Lynch needs to take control of HER Justice Dept and shut these investigations DOWN NOW.

Yes Comey erred by not sticking to FBI Policy by limiting his comments to a simple statement that stated that the Dept found no criminal wrongdoing and would not be filing any criminal charges.

By taking it upon himself to "splain things" he allowed himself to be used as a pawn and get dragged into the GOP witch hunt this morning by thinking he could make his objective case in front of a group of clowns for which objectivity is not their end game. Now Comey has 'shit and stepped in it' by opening up Pandora's Box for the Hillary Haters to now come in and either reopen other issues deemed closed, or open up new allegations alleging perjury related to other testimony, or claims against the Clinton Foundation. They had already talked about appointing a Special Prosecutor back on Tuesday when Comey originally stated his findings, as if a Special Prosecutor could investigate and be more impartial than an FBI team made up of career prosecutors and investigators could.

Now that Comey has violated Justice Dept policy and created this mess, which could potentially open Hillary up to a second (or third or fourth independent investigations depending on how these assholes want to act) it would be like putting her in a form of "double jeopardy" sort of. FTR, I know that Double Jeopardy is being tried twice for the same crime, and she wasn't on trial, per say, but being investigated by the FBI for over a year is like being on trial. The FBI was referred a case for them to investigate, and they took a year and investigated (or as Comey said, in terms of Man Years, this was a 3 Man Years FBI investigation). She needs to show that SHE is in charge of the Justice Dept, not Comey, not the Congress. If she gives the GOP an inch, they will take a mile.

Therefore, Loretta Lynch, needs to take control of HER Justice Dept, and show that she has BALLS too, and make a decision to SHUT this thing down now, or she will find herself having lost control of this entire process to a Head Hunting, Scalp Taking, Partisan Witch Hunt by the GOP that was never in search of the truth in the first place, and then wake up one day and wonder what happened.

Comey did not have to subject himself to the Congress's questions and answers session even though he was the one that opened the door to that line of questioning. He didn't have to make himself available to answer their questions. He could have said that he made a mistake in violating FBI policy and was not going to repeat that same mistake again, or words to that affect. Then they would have had to subpoena him, and he could have just risked that chance, and if they persisted state that what they were requesting goes against agency Policy.

those matters as a matter of policy when we investigate a case thoroughly and make a decision not to prosecute. Because just as all those career investigators who said that Comey had violated FBI policy by making his extensive statement when he stated that the FBI would not be charging her with any crime, the reason for the policy is one of fairness. You don't decide to not charge someone with a crime and then speculate about their guilt or innocence when they don't have an opportunity to defend themselves.

But I was thinking Nixon and the Saturday Night Massacre. There is virtually nothing that will prevent Secretary Clinton from a victory of historic proportions, BUT stoking the meme that our President is protecting the Democratic candidate by having Justice shut down inquiries (even ones that you and I know are bullshit) is one way to guarantee we will not take back the House. We can win the Presidency and the Senate with just Hillary and Bernie voters, but if we get otherwise GOP independents thinking Republicans are getting strong armed, we have zero chance of stopping Paul Ryan's clown show.

On edit . . .

AND because we know it's bullshit we know how it will come out even if Lynch goes forward. That's the luxury of knowing we're in the right.

My point was, as several former members of the DOJ have said, that Comey was wrong to discuss any results of their investigation with the Congress. That the DOJ policy is to just issue a brief statement when the FBI investigates and makes a decision not to prosecute someone for a crime. They simply make a brief statement that after a thorough investigation of the facts, they have concluded that the conduct does not warrant a criminal investigation.

Comey erred with his original statement, but the former DOJ people who were speaking out said that Comey had not obligation to go to the Congress and answer their questions. He had already made one mistake and didn't have to make a second one. Once he opened his mouth and began testifying he then began to open up himself to further criticism about how well he had investigated various matters within his original investigation, and that is what opens Clinton up for further investigations because he allowed himself to be grilled on exactly how much ACTUAL investigating they had done, which allowed the GOP to start determining whether his investigation was sufficient because, 1)it didn't include whether or not Hillary had been truthful in her appearances before Congress; 2) whether they had investigated the Clinton Foundation; 3)whether she had made other mistakes by letting an uncleared Computer Tech and her Two uncleared lawyers look at information on her server. So these and many other questions just had Jason Chavetz's wheels a churning because these amount to whole new areas for the GOP to investigate. BTW, I watched the entire 4 and 1/2 hours of testimony, and this thing will never be over and will probably run Hillary's entire first term.
