2016 Postmortem
Related: About this forumRandi Rhodes called Hillary a "Republican" yesterday. She's can SHOVE her radio show.
Enough of the posts cheering Randi Rhodes. She used to be good years ago, but has obviously turned into a TeaLeft radical whacko who called Hillary a "Republican" YESTERDAY in her new debut radio show. So Randi, don't let the door hit you on the way out and then you may proceed to go PISS UP A ROPE.
We don't need our "friends" attacking Democrats.

(36,649 posts)And calling good, loyal Democrats "Republicans" is a lie, not the truth.
You want the brutal facts? When she's good, she's a powerful voice against the forces of tyranny trying to overwhelm the country. But she was taken off the air for good reason, and in her time off the air, she hasn't grown up any, or gotten over a campaign from 2 cycles ago everyone else has mostly forgotten.

(1,674 posts)that was a nasty race. Hillary got her fired from corporate radio. The Clintons have a very long reach. Randi kept it clean on the radio, but she did a little standup at clubs. She had better numbers than Rush and will again thanks to the atmosphere in the country.
Payback is a bit**, and I will enjoy expos'es of both Trump and Hillary

I may not always agree with Thom Hartman, but Thom always tries to get the facts right. Not so much with Rhodes or Malloy
Want to make Randi upset, ask her about Ed Schultz
Malloy and Rhodes are similar to RW for radio personalities. They are nice to you if you agree with them, but get out of the way if you have a different opinion

She doesn't support Republican policy. She envicerates bullshit Republicans.
She didn't vote with Republicans in the Senate. She voted with Bernie.

Bernie will endorse her next week. Bernie does not endorse Republicans.

(14,274 posts)Air America has suspended on-air host Randi Rhodes for making inappropriate statements about prominent figures, including Senator Hillary Clinton, at a recent public appearance on behalf of Air America in San Francisco which was sponsored by an Air America affiliate station.
Air America encourages strong opinions about public affairs but does not condone such abusive, ad hominem language by our Hosts, said chair Charlie Kireker.
Departure from Air America[edit]
Air America suspended Rhodes from the network on April 3, 2008 after an event in San Francisco, California for Air America affiliate KKGN. While doing a 'Stand-up' Comedy act, Rhodes said on March 22, 2008:
"Geraldine Ferraro turned out to be the David Duke in drag ... What a whore Geraldine Ferraro is! She's such a fucking whore! I wanna see her have to stand beside her husband at one of those mandatory 'I have sinned against you; I'm a whore' kind of a press conference. Mr. Ferraro should have to stand next to his whore of a wife ... Hillary is a big fucking whore, too. You know why she's a big fucking whore? Because her deal is always, 'Read the fine print, asshole!'"
When a video of the event was made public the following week, Air America suspended her for "inappropriate comments". The event was billed as "An Evening with Randi Rhodes" and promoted on KKGN's website.[11]
Geraldine Ferraro called for the termination of Rhodes when the personal attacks directed towards her and Clinton began circulating through the media.[12]
Premiere Radio Networks (2009-14)[edit]
On April 23, 2009, Premiere Radio Networks, a subsidiary of Clear Channel Communications, announced the addition of Randi Rhodes to their syndicated lineup with her show returning to airways across the country May 11, 2009.[27] Her eponymous program, The Randi Rhodes Show, aired live Monday through Friday from 3 pm to 6 pm Eastern Time. Her show ended on May 16, 2014.[28][29]

(11,197 posts)Bottom line is Hillary IS right of center, and to deny it is either (a) farsical, or (b) lunacy. So instead of tearing down anyone who might point that fact out, why not RATHER simply explain why that's OK with you instead of simply turning on, and attacking the comment. You obviously are more attracted to a right-of center politician, so why not simply state why you believe this is the correct political alignment for America?

(43,182 posts)I liked her, I listened to her daily years ago, I've even met her in person (I once saw her introduce Bill Clinton of all people and I remember how glowingly she spoke about him at the time). I think she's genuinely a liberal/progressive but struggles with an extremely fragile ego and she basically suffered a meltdown circa 2007 and hasn't recovered since. She not only lashed out at Democratic politicians like Hillary but other liberal media personalities that she saw as threats as opposed to colleagues at arms.
I mean, once Sanders endorses Hillary, exactly what is she going to advocate for in 2016? Is she going to rally behind Jill Stein? Or is she going to go all Susan Sarandon and say we should accept Trump in order to "Bring on the Revolution!"
In the early 00s, she had the talent to be the next big liberal media figure but sadly she lacked the temperament to follow through. She painted herself into the corner and now is basically dismissible fringe. It's a tragedy in the most classical sense of the word.

(32,084 posts)And, she will encourage everyone else to do so, even if it means holding their noses, as she will do. She recognizes how high the stakes are. She is still really good at going after the GOP. But, it's unfortunate that she's re-living the 2008 campaign. I wasn't a fan of Hillary's campaign back then, either. The people she had working for her did her no favors, but they are no longer with her this time around. Hopefully, Randi will eventually recognize this, but I think she is still in the process of venting. I don't know if she'll ever come around to fully supporting Hillary, but she is definitely not in the Susan Sarandon camp, nor will she encourage anyone to vote 3rd party.

I've had differences with Rhodes and some of her exaggerations for effect, but I think she's calling on us all to start sounding less like the Republicans who really should urinate vertically. Rather than trying to redefine "progressive," let's embody it.

I hope she does the right thing on all. I am voting for her because Trump is an instant insane threat to the country, but I am unconvinced on the issues we have listed. I know this makes us hated here but at least she gets my vote and I will NOT work to undermine her election. It's one thing to reluctantly vote for her, it is another to use bullshit tropes (as some do) to try to demoralise turnout.
I also think Sanders should endorse her as soon as possible. This election is nowhere near a sure thing yet. Never underestimate the ignorance of a massive amounts of voters.
